I came across OnePlus 8 series listings while browsing in the OnePlus 7T Pro sub-category on Opportmart.com

Take all these details with a grain of salt but since it was listed on Oppomart with Oppo being basically OnePlus's parent company (underneath BBK) these info should be fairly accurate.

Wireless charging isn't mentioned in any of the 3 models listed, so it may be introduced in the 'T' lineup later in the year?

50W charging seems insane. It mentions 30T charging in the description for the Pro, but the specifications are what you posted here. My Core i7 laptop rarely hits that much from the power adapter. I use this to charge it, do you think it would support the 50W charging of the OnePlus 8 Pro? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07S8SDD4D/

 

I also think it's odd that there is such a small (3.9%) price difference between the standard and Pro, yet the Pro seems way better. And the lite doesn't seem to be a huge step down from the standard. Maybe the standard should/will be lower, more like $669.

The OnePlus 8 Lite looks like a reasonable upgrade from my 3T, though I'll be waiting for reviews to see how its battery holds up. I also wish it had wireless charging, but if it's otherwise good, I guess I'll just have to suck it up and make do without.

 

It's a shame that there's nothing better on the market that I could upgrade to, instead.

I went from 3T to 7Pro and it was an amazing step up. 

The only complaint I have about this phone is the weight and sometimes the fingerprint reader is stupid. 

Other than that it's brilliant. I love the pop up cam even though initially I found it stupid. The battery live is amazing making wireless charging a stupid gimmick if your phone charges half full in like 10 minutes. 

OxygenOS really needs no words, orders of magnitude better than anything Samsung etc. 

90hz Display is kinda cool but also kinda useless (I don't game at all, maybe that's why) 

 

My recommendation: go get 'em.

I honestly don’t get the whole thing about wireless charging, it hasn’t made my life any easier, and is way slow through my otter box, which I’m not in the mood to pop off every time I need to charge. 
 

I guess it’s kind of a convenience cause I keep it in one place and it’s always there and I don’t have to go find a cord, but it’s not that big of a deal to me.

For me, the speed wouldn't matter. I can plug a cable to my phone and charge from the wall-charger, if need be, but it'd be nice to be able to just slap the phone down on my desk and have it slowly charge while I'm doing something on my PC, all the while being able to quickly pick it up and start pacing around if I receive a call or have to go do something else.

the 8 lite is impressive, only thing lacking is a headphone jack. Even if it comes with a MediaTek SoC, the Dimensity 1000 pretty much competes with the SD855

Though, don't know if things have changed, MediaTek as a bad rep among the Custom ROM, so this might be another point to consider before buying

Yeah that would make sense, I don’t have to worry to much about plugging my phone in, as I don’t use it much and the iPhone 11 battery is blowing my mind. coming from a moto e4 this is the craziest difference I’ve ever seen.

For me it's been super nice and also doesn't wear out your port as fast. Also why do you use an otter box? They are expensive and horrible to use day to day

I got a $100 rebate in phone accessories with sprint when I got insurance on my iPhone 11, they didn’t have much selection, but they had a few otterboxes.

Anyways, while some early OnePlus fans might be upset that they have the Snapdragon 865 only on the 8 Pro at an eyewatering price of $800, I can also understand where they're coming from. 8x5 chips are now pricey as hell, and even the executive at Poco said that the pricing of the 855 and 865 have skyrocketed, and now it's pretty much impossible to build a phone at a reasonable price with those chips.

 

What is interesting is the use of the MTK Dimensity 1000 in the OnePlus 8 Lite. This is kind of a double-edged sword, as one hand they will have a chip just as capable as an 855 at a fraction of the price, delivering a very pleasant experience for a sub-$500 phone, while on the either hand the questionable nature of modding on MediaTek chips might put some people who buy OnePlus phones for their competitive pricing and moddability away, which is a risky move for a company who was essentially born on those principles.

We'll see how it goes.

Ive got wireless chargers on my desk and night stand. and in my car i have a mount that charges wireless.  Even with my otterbox defender it works fine on a note 9.

 

Its a pretty big factor for me now. its just much easier.

 

But the biggest point is oneplus shouldnt be upping the price of their phones while taking away the most basic features. If this was a budget phone at a budget price then i wouldnt care. but your asking $800 thats lacking features on phones i can get for less then a quarter of that price.

I always grab an otterbox if ones available for my phone. I love them.

 

I dont mind the extra bulk for the extra protection. Im not wearing skinny jeans so the extra thickness doesnt do anything. I cant count how many times my phone has been dropped (my daughter dropped it standing on the bed of the truck on to concrete) and the otterbox doesnt have a scratch on it let alone my phone.

 

$50 to protect my $1000 phone is a no brainer to me personally.

Yeah but you take an amazing piece of technology and cover it in a gaudy ugly rubber case. Honestly I swapped to using skins and a glass screen protector and haven't broke my screen in 4 years. I've dropped it face down on concrete a couple time too. The screen protector breaks and absorbs the impact protecting the actual screen. Which I would rather buy 3 glass protectors every year and have a naked phone then use a case that gets all yellow or ugly. Just my preference though

But the amazing technology is the same with or without a case. 

 

Its not like im showing off the phone to people and having them look at it. 

 

And idk how an otterbox would turn yellow. Every once in a while when i clean my phone ill wipe it down with a lysol towel and it looks basically the same as the day i bought it.

 

Also with these dumbass curved screens its basically impossible for me to use the phone one handed without a case

we are talking a few mm of added thickness though. Its not like the case is tripling the size of the phone.

 

The size/weight difference of the phone inside vs outside the case for me personally doesnt make much difference.

 

Like I said earlier im not wearing skinny jeans where my pockets have issues holding a few credit cards  lol. Phones are at the point where i dont care if they get smaller/thinner. They are already smaller then i need them to be. My note 9 could be double its thickness and it would still fit well in my hands and pocket.
