Is a 1070 Ti still a respectable graphics card?

Hey everyone just curious if a 1070 Ti is still a respectable gpu and if so, how long it will remain so?

 

I was thinking of upgrading to an RTX 2070 Super or 2080 but I don’t want to do it unless it makes sense to spend that kind of money for an upgrade from a 1070 Ti.

Its pretty good card still, on RTX 2060 super  ish level. I would wait for 5800 XT or rtx 3000 -series. 

 

But yeah pretty good card

1070ti is still faster than say, an RTX 2060 in stuff that doesnt use the Tensor or RT cores, so definitely not outdated until next gen comes out

Ah yeah I was planning on waiting for the 3080 or 3080 Ti IF the 1070 Ti was still considered a respectable card but if it was considered an old card and a new one was recommended I was going to get a 2070S or 2080.

Always depends on what you are doing with it and what resolution. For some games total overkill, for some games bottom limit

I actually just got a new monitor that is 27l” 1440p 144hz (MSI Optix MAG271CQR) and it’s a HUGE upgrade from my old BenQ 24” 1920x1080 60hz monitor.

I mostly play games like Resident Evil 2 (remake), Resident Evil 7, Devil May Cry 5, CS:GO, WoW, Dead By Daylight, etc.,

 

Just a bunch of unrelated games with very different requirements.

Its still a very decent card,I used it,and now my friend uses it with an 4770 and it still kicks ass,1440p and 1080p.

Well yeah it does matter because if it’s considered “old school” like a 580 or 760 or something like that then I would feel like I could get a huge performance increase with a newer card rather than with newer cards where upgrading from like a 760 to a 770 would be a huge waste of money.

If it does what you want it do it is a good card. If it does it still in 10 years it is still a good, but old card. Don't let anyone tell you to change it if you're basically satisfied with what it does.

If you're getting close to 144hz in fast paced pvp games and 60-90 in single player rpg's, you definitely don't need to upgrade.

It's irrelevant of what other people think about the card. What's important is what you require and if the card meets your requirements. People here are fine with something like a GTX 750 Ti because it does everything they need it to do.

 

If the 1070 Ti meets or exceeds your performance requirements, then by all means, go for it.

And even then... If you don't have a 144Hz display and don't care about more than 60fps, it doen't matter as long as it is about above of what you need to enjoy it.

I actually do have a 144hz display (MSI Optix MAG271CQR). I just got it last month . I’d like to get 144+ fps in all my games but with my 1070 Ti I’m limited sometimes to ~90-100 in certain games.

Ironically I own two 1070ti's but I couldn't tell you if they're any good from personal expereince, because all I do is Fold on them

 

While 2060's are better at folding than 1070ti's, on paper they're on par or slightly better than their 2060 counter parts in games, and can be found for anywhere from $250-300USD on r/hardwareswap used which is where I got the FTW2, and I got the Zotac Mini one here on LTT Classifieds

according to gpucheck, the average 1440p fps across a huge library of games is:

1070ti - 76.5

2070s - 97.5

2080  - 105.9

in general, when upgrading, it only makes sense if you get at least 30-40% increase in performance. that means 100-110 fps. so you'd have to upgrade to a 2080/2080s for a visible performance increase. it would probably make more sense to wait for the 3000 series, where the 3070 will probably match 2080s in performance, for 2070 price.

Been wanting more from my 1080 for along time. Just barely gets by in the new cod.

I actually read that a 1070 Ti is closer to a 1080 than a 1070 and I’ve been having trouble with Resident Evil 2 remake getting 90-100fps when I need 144+ on my 144hz monitor to take advantage.

The 1070ti is still a decent card,

 

i upgraded to the 2070 super and the 1070 ti is in my sons system.

its a competent gpu even for 1440p gaming Pascal aged really well and with the efficiency of that architecture you'll definitely pump out some performance from it and it has very similar cuda core count to the 1080

Thanks for the info! I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t an out of date card that would struggle with playing at 1440p on new games coming out in the next year or so.

Would you say it was worth it to pay full price to upgrade your son’s 1070 Ti to a 2070S? Or do you think an upgrade from 1070 Ti to 2070S would be a waste of money in terms of performance gains?

if your playing 1440p 144hz then you can tell as you get higher fps

 

if your not at the moment then i would wait next year for the mew cards
