How long can you leave a completed build w/o case on the box?

ascendingaudio

Hi everyone, first post.
as I've been recently getting into the tech sector, I wanted to build my own system. I planned out the build, took tips and pointers and ended up with the end choice rig. However, all my parts are here, except the case, which is now being heavily delayed in shipping. I know that it's acceptable to use the motherboard box as a sort of test bench to make sure all components work before you screw everything into the case, and also open-air benches are kind of the same concept, but how long could you run a setup on a box before it starts to have a detrimental effect on the parts?

Easier to accumulate dust, easier to clean the dust.

as long as you like, just avoid spilling liquid, dropping metal parts, and maybe a static carpet.
