I am building a computer, and I am deciding between getting a Certified Refurbished PSU or spending the extra money on a new one.

Here is the PSU I am looking at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P6TCL6L

It is quite a bit more expensive new at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M2UIXX2

Is it really worth it to buy new? It is 80+ Platinum Certified if that makes any difference.

There is nothing wrong with going for one of our refurb products, including the PSU you linked, if you want a higher tier product for a lower price.  All of our refurbished products go through a strict testing process before being sent back out.  Refurbished products come with a 1-year warranty, receiving the same replacement and support policies.

Whether you feel it is a good deal or not is really a personal preference.  Let me know if you have any questions, and I can help you out.

Refurbished is fine, it's checked out and made sure in spec.  Hell, most broken items returned to companies end up going out as refurbs when another broken one comes in.

No, it's not worth it with a 90 day warranty.

Best to get a NEW one with the full warranty and support.

Since the PSU is the most important part (imho) in the build i would take great care of selecting one.

I mean if something goes wrong with the PSU, it can take other stuff with it. (Altho unlikely). So i would want to know who exactly refurbished it.

And like others have said, you most likely dont need 750Watts, unless you SLI 3-way or somethingcrazy like that.
There are enough 500Watt PSU that are good enough and would most likely have power to spare for your system.

edit: Even a 9900K with 1080Ti would do with 600Watt. (no OC).

Also check the PSU chart and get a Tier 1 PSU, jsut to be safe. Should have enough of those under hundred bucks.

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!

Depends on the system actually.

Something like a high end RTX 2080Ti and 9900K machine can and will pull some serious wattage especially when OCed so a 750W PSU would be recommended.

The High End 2080Ti's can pull well over 350W and the 9900K can pull over 200W

Wonder if we can get clarification from @Corsair Nick, because I'm thinking you're buying a refurb unit from Corsair, which is getting the standard PSU warranty coverage.  Similar if you were sent a refurb as part of an RMA.

I doubt it.

When you have a new PSU from Corsair and have to RMA it and they send you either a new or refurb unit as a replacement it's different. Since you actually bought a new product with the full warranty so they honor the full warranty period. I believe it's prorated from the original purchase date.

Buying a reburb is not the same.

The difference is the warranty. That's it. If you want a beast of a warranty, buy new. If you want to save the money but only have a short window for RMAs, buy the refurb.

FWIW, I'm running a refurb SF600 with no issues. I've also got an ancient semi-modular HX620 that was purchased...um...a long, long time ago as a refurb. Zero problems.

Smart move.

Now if it was a budget build or something to that effect that would be different.

By a machine that costs that much money, and it's a lot is just too much to risk IMO.

Yeah, makes sense. What do you think of this build? Do you have any suggestions for changes I should make or is it good? I'm new to PC building.

Changed the MB, it's overkill unless you are going for extreme LN2 overclocking.

Added in a M.2 Samsung 250GB 970 NVME for the main drive (OS and Main Programs) and Samsung 860 EVO 1 TB for storage and games.

Not sure what the SSD would be for that you had in there.

750W vers would be fine, but I didn't change that.

I like NVME drives personally for the main drive.

I prefer SATA but for that machine being high end on almost all levels... go NVMe to utilize ANY speed benefit since you're paying for it an other parts.

It's being sold by Corsair, so certified by them and then should be covered on their 10 year warranty.

I don't know any company that gives you full length warranty on something that is refurbished.  If I buy a used car, I don't get a 10/10000 warranty on it.

From Corsair:

I'm willing to bet the 1 year is correct.

Thanks, didn't see that part about Certified Refurbished on their site.  I was thinking that if you get a refurb as part of an RMA you get the remaining warranty applied to it, this would be similar.  Refurbs are refurbs are refurbs, etc.

I stand corrected, thanks.

Yeah.  I think they only do that if you bought the product new in the first place.  The replacement, new or refurb, would have the reminder of your warranty left on it.
