Things like this doesn't surprise me anymore...marketing BS has been around for..idk the dawn of time.

Each time i see some manufacturer promote their product it always trigger my BS detector.

 

But its still funny though.

Honestly I dont even know why they are doing this, its not like their cameras are bad. Its like a straight A student cheating whats the point.

Yeah I have yet to see a big reviewing look into one. They destroy most laptops in the price range. The XPS 13 is utter shit when compared to it

still waiting on LTT to review these machines, especially considering their good feedback from other media so far. 

Is it possible that LTT didn't get a review sample of it? After all, Huawei's COO was arrested in Canada and they're not really happy about it.

I got in contact with staff once. Apperantly the higher end matebook series went unnoticed.

 

Nothing to do with reviewsamples apperantly, but its rather curious.

 Sure. And I believe they also have a video about it and in it, it is very misleading. But this is for another phone, NOT the P30 Pro. This is just GSMarena nitpick about a poster, that does not indicate any of what GSMarena claims.

Curious. I'd thought LTT would be jumping on Huawei's price-to-performance ratio after seeing they bought a bunch of shady cheap stuff from Aliexpress/Taobao. Not to mention similar products, like the LG Gram, were reviewed before.

The point is that Huwaei has a prominent and recent history of pulling this bullshit. There is no reason to think that this current case is any different. They posted pictures in a marketing for a device, those photos are expected to come from the device. They can be heavily processed, but the expectation is still that they come from the device being marketed.

I mean Huawei addresses some of the critisisms of the surface laptop in trade of a worse webcam and perhaps a tad worse keyboard

So the difference is that yes, while those individual photos are misleading, Apple didn't intentionally hide the notch in all imagery. And in fact, if you want to buy an iPhone Xs from the Apple site, it's essentially impossible to do so without seeing very clearly a notch.

 

So as @DrMacintosh stated, there was backlash, but the backlash was overblown, and thus eventually died out.

@dalekphalm is right here, the difference is that, whilst those are misleading promotional images, you wouldn't realistically buy the device based on those images and you wouldn't buy the iPhone X without acknowledging the notch because it does appear in other promotional material. Even on their website, they still use these misleading wallpaper's far too much in my opinion.

I know, this is one specifically selected bias screenshot, but there are 5 images here of the iPhone XS on Apple's website and not one of them clearly shows a notch. Again, no one is realistically going to buy it without knowing it has a notch but these images still bug me ?.
