lukesterboy got a reaction from Ben17 in VestaCP DNS Nameservers not responding.
Hi i'm trying to configure my domain to point to custom nameservers that are being hosted by VestaCP.
The domain i have is lukedyte.me and i'm trying to have the nameservers be ns1.lukedyte.me and ns2.lukedyte.me
According to intodns.com the nameservers are not responding.
VestaCP is running on a CentOS VM that has no firewalld service running. port53 is open and so dns requests should be able to reach it.
I've waited over 48 hours for it to propagate, its probably been about 4 days now. Some servers can resolve the domain and find it's name servers and some can't.
My domain is working fine when using cloudflare dns but is not working with other providers which i find especially strange.
I have the ns1. and ns2. records all pointing to an A record.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Luke.

VESTACP offers a dns service, BIND (named) service, so once you configure the info it just configures it with BIND. The weird thing is my website works fine when using cloudflare dns but no other dns works.

Agreed, I would also check the PSU as well just because the VS line isn't known for being terribly good.

Truth be told these processors are on pair with each other you'll hardly feel a difference between them so I'd go with the cheapest.

lukesterboy got a reaction from DocSwag in New M.2 SSD installed now Hard drives not showing
Haha I feel like such an idiot super rookie mistake, laziness to be honest. Basically the drive that was showing was hooked up correctly while the drive that wasn't showing was still plugged into slot 5 which is hidden behind my GPU and I couldn't really see if anything was plugged into it so assumed it was empty. Turned out the cable I had plugged in slot 2 was actually a 3rd cable connected to nothing hence why it didn't work ? sorry for wasting your time.

Meh, i would prefer something with a bit more power, i do quite a bit of multi tasking in terms of have quite a few programs and a lot of chrome tabs something open at the same time. The R5 or i5 is good at that.

lukesterboy reacted to Akolyte in High ping AF I really need your help
Yeah, as others have said it's probably your ISP, or it could be an issue with your NIC? Or even the cable itself. Many variables, but my first thought would be your ISP, try and ping 8.8.8.8 as that's Google's DNS server, and see what response you get. If you can go onto speedtest.net and decent speeds then clearly it's not your internet, and it's the server you're connecting to.
Another possibility is it's your router, I had a situation where my router would overheat and run very slowly for a period of time. If you find the longer you play the slower it gets, it could be that. Issues with the cable and NIC are pretty uncommon with this kind of hardware, as there isn't much for interference and you got the same speeds over Wifi. So ask your neighbors perhaps if you can connect to their network for a minute to test your speed? or go to your friends house and try it? Just a little troubleshooting.
I'm not a networking pro, but hopefully this helps.

What server/ip did you trying pinging, you could try a trace route to that server, just to get an idea of how many hops there are between you, even if there is lots though like all the others are saying there is not much that can be done other than getting a new ISP.

DSL or VDSL will never be able to live up to what Cable and Fiber providers can do. Here in the US many of our major DSL providers are walking away from the Copper on the poles to deliver LTE service instead. Because they dont want to make the investment.

Since you've tried running a cable from the router itself and that didn't help, there is nothing that can be done. You should test other servers like Google DNS servers (8.8.8.8) - my ping is 11-13ms and I have internet from a local WiFi provider (I'm connected through their WiFi and then through my WiFi router at home).
Your latency is abnormally high and there could be a problem somewhere else possibly (Telekom's infrastructure). The other thing I'm thinking of right now is that you can try contacting Telekom if you find out that your latency is high on other servers (like Google DNS). They have a telephone number for reporting malfunctions (0800123777). Keep in mind that you will need your parents for that as they will ask details about the contract as name, address to verify caller's identity.
I know something about Telekom's infrastructure. It's old and they are squeezing every last bit of bandwidth from their old cabling and network gear. In a lot of places they have 20+ year cables. I'm very lucky that they reconstructed my street and connected everyone on fiber this year. But before that, they couldn't even connect us to the internet and few lucky people on the street with internet from them were having a lot of connection issues, instability and low speeds.
If you want a better connection you can try entering your address at www.porovnat.sk. It will show you all available ISPs at your address.

lukesterboy got a reaction from Leonard in Ethernet problems, unidentified network (Solved)
Ok, just woke up turned on my pc and began going down the list of things to try.
I remembered you said something about auto negotiation so I thought I would try that first and I changed it to 100Mbps Full Duplex and that seemed to fix it. It's almost as if it was telling me right to my face by saying "Unidentified Network" as in it doesn't know what speed the network is but I'm guessing it must mean other things too. As I read other problems where people had this and fixed it by just restarting the router.
Either way thanks for all the help guys especially you @Leonard
After this fix I did also update the driver from "19." Something to "22.4.16.0" which is from Intel's website directly. I believe it was the windows 7 64bit one I used and it still seemed to work in Windows 10 pro 64bit.
The driver version in device manager still says "12.15.25.6" if that matters at all to any future people who view this thread and need help.
This problem is very annoying but for anyone in the future having the same or similar problem here were the other things I was going to try:
Things to try: Clear CMOS Try disabling firewall Various netsh Cmd commands also try in Safe mode perhaps. Check airplane mode Turn off fast startup in power options Make sure all cables are working, make sure patch panel and rj45 module cabling is also correct or works on another computer perhaps. Resetting router. (Leave for 15 minutes, resets something to do with the Mac address) Disabling Anti virus etc. Hope this helps.
