GETxHIPFIREDx reacted to Bombastinator in Games losing FPS while youtube autoplay switches video
This doesn’t sound abnormal. Maybe Stop watching YouTube videos while you game? Both your cpu and gpu are big. I don’t know which one you are maxing but like a game, YouTube would use both. Maybe look at metrics to see what you are burying when you do it.

Yeah expect to pay some good $$ if you want solid wood just telling ya.
I turned to the Gerton just cause I couldn't find a single desk I liked anywhere and have a carpenter in the family who can make custom legs.
Question: Im guessing there is no metal bar reinforcement on the underside of the table?
Btw: That is an interesting Case I gotta say.

GETxHIPFIREDx got a reaction from godzilla5123 in Just got my 1080ti
i just got my 1080ti (coming from 980). i was wondering what ltt suggested for putting my new card through the gauntlet.
Benchmarking already. Rise of the Tomb Raider, GTAV, Rainbow 6 Siege, and ill be trying some super sampling on some less demanding titles.
Thanks <3

GETxHIPFIREDx reacted to DaftBehemoth in 1080ti SLI @ 1440
To be perfectly honest, 1440p 144hz isn't going to strain them very hard. Personally, I'm looking to upgrade to a 200hz ultrawide someday when I have money again. At that point, I feel like the cards will be a bit more justified. At the moment it's pure overkill without a lot of gain. lol

Not sure how reliable these benchmarks are but it's something http://www.babeltechreviews.com/gtx-1080-ti-sli-performance-25-games/3/

GETxHIPFIREDx reacted to Volbet in Spotify/mp3/flac bookshelf player
Then I would still suggest an iPad or Android tablet. Those can be had for relativly cheap.
These types of HiFi network players tend to be very expensive compared to what you're getting.
It's a niché market and the consumers are willing to pay.
The cheapest network player I can think off is the Marantz NA6005, but I don't think it's able to download music and my experience with it was flakey at best.

Probably the best way to calibrate a monitor without a light meter is to look at a review for it and see what the professionals used for their settings. If those work, you're set on your VG248QE.

Also usually the "eggshell" whites point toward a bit too much red and a bit too much green. Try turning those down bit by bit until you see good whites (it's easier to do it with a greyscale).

GETxHIPFIREDx reacted to W-L in Mounting things/stuffs to ikea desks
If you use short screws the top layer would be thick enough to secure it, however another option you can use some double sided mounting tape.

More than enough if you use the right stuff, you can also get 3M Dual lock which is basically velcro on steroids if you want it removable.

Solid double stick mounting tape should work.

This or the 3M version of it is more than strong enough (most are usually around 10lbs of support, but they vary). They're usually wrapped in red, but it's a clearish-colored double sided adhesive. I have my power bar mounted with it on the back portion of my desk with about 7 power connectors right now. I only used two strips of it, basically matching where the plugs are.

GETxHIPFIREDx reacted to VVoltor in Retro Fit thoughts
Seems like a fun project, how hard it is depends on how good you are with tools and DIY things.
It looks like there's plenty of space, but modern day hardware probably won't just fit in there. For the power supply I think you could just drill some holes in the back to put the screws through.
For the motherboard I would tap threaded holes in the bottom to put the motherboard standoffs in.
You'll need a riser card to put a graphics card in, not sure if any other modifications are needed to mount them securely.
Modern systems probably need better airflow as well, so you'll want to consider that as well.
