here's a complete theoretical redo of the system for ya (might want to make it more foolproof as to prevent expliotment, but this is just a draft):

      -Best answers (+2 pts ea.)
      -Helpful answers (+.5pts ea.)
-Guides (+1pt ea., plus +.5pts ea. reaction received.)

    Community Involvement
      -Topics (+1pt ea. max/day is 1)
      -Posts (+1pts per 10. max/day is 10)
      -Status Updates (+.5pts ea. max/day is 3)

Replies are defined as a Helpful answer if the OP marks a post as Helpful, which would be an exclusive reaction to the OP and OP only to give.

They know what they are doing, do you think settings are hard to find because a company as big and successful as Google couldn't hire a competent person to make a settings page where settings that a user is likely to change are easy to find? No, they know which settings can lead to less user data being collected, which will result in less revenue for Google, so they aren't going to make it easy to change those settings.

wall03 reacted to Chris Pratt in If all cars on the road were driven by automated A.I would there be more or less crashes?
I think we have to reach a point where the AI is universal and not dependent on the car. What I'm talking about there, is instead of the AI being built into the car, it's built into the actual infrastructure, and the car acts as a receiver for commands.

As it is, the car's AI, even if it's programmed flawlessly, is entirely dependent on numerous sensors and a camera array. Something as simple as a camera lens getting too dirty because you hit a mud puddle, can severely diminish the AIs ability to effectively control the car.

With an infrastructure driven system, all the positions of all the cars on the road can be a known quantity, along with even road hazards. Additionally, the processing power can be near limitless, whereas you're always going to hit some limit of what can be thrown into a car.

wall03 got a reaction from Doobeedoo in 21H1 Windows 10 Update Announced - Out Now!
    summary
It's that time of the year again, Microsoft will soon release, a new version of Windows 10.
Codename 21H1 the new update will feature....  nothing really. Normally, they are new features, but this time, they are absolutely minor, which is also what we got last year with 20H2.

This proves the entire developer team is doing one of these three things:
working mostly on Sun Valley working mostly on Windows 10X (Microsoft's competitor to ChromeOS that isn't announced yet but everyone knows about) working mostly on nothing
Mostly bug fixes, here are the entire list of new features:
Windows Hello multicamera support to set the default as the external camera when both external and internal Windows Hello cameras are present. Windows Defender Application Guard performance improvements including optimizing document opening scenario times. Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) Group Policy Service (GPSVC) updating performance improvement to support remote work scenarios.
see the entire[ly small amount of] details below:

    here's more from the blog
    what's next for windows 10?
Project Sun Valley. A big project, known only as rumors.

Summarizing the rumors, Sun Valley seems to be going full in with Fluent Design, dropping Metro (the design language, not the transportation service!). This is supported by leaks from Microsoft showing screenshots in documentations and marketing materials that don't quite match up with what we have.

One of the more notable change is... rounded corners on UI elements. Yeah, that design choice Microsoft had been avoiding like the plague.
Even today, we have hints of UI changes, as seen in the new Edge web browser and in some apps.

    thoughts/opinions
No changes here that will affect me at all... let's hope the bug fixes will... fix things?

Currently, reputation is inseparably linked to reactions, although in the next major update, which may come this summer, I think IPS are planning some changes to how that works - once that's out, we may be able to reconsider, but I won't promise anything.

    I did say:
though. In addition, you'd probably also ignore the Off-Topic forum, as is the case with postcounts currently.

That honestly makes a lot of sense, except the idea of half-points is a bit odd.
I'd just double all those values:
    - Best answers +4pts
    - Helpful answers +1pt
    - Guides +2pt then +1pt for each reaction
    - Topics +2pt
    - Posts +1pt per 5
    - Status updates +1pt
    - Reactions +1pt per 8

Currently we have reputation for reactions but, as far as I can see, reputation is not gained when your post is marked as the best answer.
Surely, though, best answer is the ultimate Informative reaction, and so should be awarded as such (with at least 1, if not more, reputation points?)
You would have to not grant reputation for people flagging their own post as the best answer, however.
