Have you done research on that like I have by reading this book? (No bad intentions)🙂

Every single one of them should be treated seriously. Especially if they are directed towards family.

Well maybe take this as a learning opportunity and put in the work. If you want something, do it yourself.

steelo got a reaction from dalekphalm in My dad says this about rechargable thinga (I don't believe him).
Most hobby grade rc cars, planes, boats, etc have an alarm or a lipo shutoff built into the esc (speed controller) to prevent the battery from falling below a certain voltage.

steelo reacted to LostInSpaceThings in Is it only me or going back to 30fps seems impossible
Valid point. I recently got a 3080 and have yet to test it. Imagining 50-60 frames at 2k rea, even lower in bigger cities

steelo reacted to Commodus in Small Desktop PC for work help!
Have to echo this. The OP is finding something for parents who probably aren't tech-savvy and might not want to lean on their child for technical support. Pre-built computers mean those parents can talk to professional help and get repairs without troubling their kid.
There are a number of solid brands, but I would be tempted to point to the Mac mini like others have suggested. It's not just that it's a reasonably speedy computer in a small, quiet design; it's the support. The OP's parents could not only get quality over-the-phone service, but take the machine into a retail store to have it repaired or replaced relatively quickly (on that note: always have a backup so that you won't lose anything during a repair!).

steelo reacted to 05032-Mendicant-Bias in Diablo Immortal
I played on both phone and PC.
The game really plays like a Diablo game! Which was more than I expected. The game side of the development is good as far as I can tell.
On phone the performance was dreadful, on PC it's smooth but really clunky. It's obvious the PC version is a thin veiled mobile port.
The story seemed ok as far as I played, Dekard cain, cultists, save/kill people. All Diablo like plotlines.
I found the loot system really bad. I kept finding greys/greens with slightly higher stats, very boring. Being redirected to a dozen submenus with what I guess are dozens of various premium currencies and battle passes really killed the excitement for loot I had. I can't imagine a Diablo game where loot is not exciting.
The open world with people running around really felt it was there mostly to allow whales to show off their expensive skins. I wish there was a solo offline mode to save performance, I don't like the party system at all.
I quit when I found out that you had to buy the loot of the first boss... Like... WHAT?!?! Uninstalled.

steelo got a reaction from thefish in Wifi 6 vs Ethernet
Ethernet will usually (if not 99% of the time) have lower ping times than wifi6. Whether it is worth it to wire up your house is up to you.

steelo got a reaction from da na in is the performance of nvidia sheild pro better than tv built in media player?
I mean, personally having Roku media player I wouldn't be able to justify buying Nvidia shield. It works fine.

Unless you'll be gaming, just using the internal firmware of your smart TV will be sufficient.

steelo got a reaction from Beerzerker in Elon Musk tells Tesla workers to return to the office full time or resign
But in the end, he is the boss and he makes the call. I'm sure he has legit reasons for wanting people in the office and he's not just being an ahole.

steelo got a reaction from Beerzerker in Elon Musk tells Tesla workers to return to the office full time or resign
Okay...so as far as I'm aware, Elon isn't holding a gun to his employees heads forcing them to work there. It always astounds me how people complain about the (legal) rules employers set and seem determined to stir up outrage. All of this wasted energy could be used in finding an employer they REALLY want to be involved with.

steelo got a reaction from Queen Chrysalis in 2400Mhz 4x4Gb kit with Ryzen 5 1600
It is my understanding that higher resolutions, such as 4k utilize the GPU more than the CPU. Also, your desired frame rate isn't something way out there, so I don't believe you will have any sort of severe CPU bottleneck. I have a R5 1600 AF, RX 5700 (non XT) and my ram is only clocked to 2800 mhz. Although I'm running 1080p @ 60 hz, I've never had any type of stuttering issues in any games.

steelo reacted to Origami Cactus in 2400Mhz 4x4Gb kit with Ryzen 5 1600
It will probably do 2933mhz, and it would be enough for the 1600.
Even if that kit could do 3200mhz, I remember that first gen ryzen had real difficulties going over 2933 with 4 dimms anyways, so just use it like that.
You may get a small stutter here or there (because of the 1600 [16mb l3]), but the average framerates will be fine because of the fact that it is 4k 60hz.

steelo got a reaction from thrasher_565 in Diablo Immortal
They did release it for PC...I've downloaded it, although I haven't tried it yet. The mobile version is pretty fun but after about 15 minutes of playing I realize it runs a bit sluggish. I'm running a S20, which is a few years old but the slowdowns do get a bit annoying during battles.

I'll be hanging on to my Ryzen 5 1600AF for a few more years and even then will probably still be at least 2 gens behind when I do upgrade.

steelo reacted to Mark Kaine in Does upgrading from R5 3600 > R5 5600X make sense?
Thing is if it is i dont see it... even ROTTR on "max" settings does max. out the GPU before the CPU for example...
And if i check this stuff i do it like this... hard to miss something!
(dont mind the weird usage or fps, its just Tomb Raider Anniversary 🤣)
Thats not to say the CPU couldn't bottleneck at some point, but i didn't really see it yet in the games I play.*(of course something like handbrake may max it out 99-100%)
*ironically im pretty sure its a cpu bottleneck in that pic, but has to be an engine limitation imo.
its a mortar... not sure about the VRMs but they're probably ok?
And nah, msi always makes just beta bios for this stuff... the current none beta doesn't even support my cpu (afaik) lol...
honestly i probably should have clarified that i really just sometimes have issues with recording etc, and if i shouldn't better save up for a 8 core for that?
And yeah, AM5 around the corner... lol.
But i wanted to ask peoples opinions anyway cause the mobo just got support for 5000 series a few days ago (and yes its a beta, of course it is lol)

3600 Still has some chops; I'd wait for next gen TBH then platform upgrade.
