Pip313 got a reaction from Jon Jon in Will a GTX 1050ti run on a 240W power supply with a i7 2600 and 16gb of ram ?
Look, I’ve done it twice. Anyone saying it won’t be fine had never done it.
im sure you’re asking about those sff pc’s. They handle a 1050ti just fine.
also that 75w tdp isn’t accurate. I measured full system load in my old i7 2600 1050ti at only 95w in farcry 4. No way the gpu was pulling 75w and the rest of the system combined 20w.

Despite what everyone is saying, yes, it should work as long as you don't do any overclocking. The GTX 1050ti only consumes 75w under full load, and the i7 2600 only consumes about 90w at full load. Figure about an extra 20-30w at most for your fans and HDDs, you're looking at a total system power draw of about 195w with both your CPU and GPU at 100% load.

Pip313 got a reaction from O9B0666 in 4K gaming
The best graphics cards “barely” do 4k. If you want a cheap 4K gaming card you want the 12 or 13 series from nvidia. So basically you can get what you want in 2-5 years.
Not being a smart-ass, that’s the real honest answer.
Cheap and 4K gaming belong in the same sentence like freedom and life in prison.

Depends on the quality you want graphically wise, it ranges from a GTX 980 Ti ~ 1070 ~ Vega56 all the way to the Vega64~1080 Ti for a good time playing at 4k.
the more power the better but as said it'll fall down to what you're after really:

I have a 2600K with 16GB RAM with a GTX 1070...and it works perfectly fine.

It's the resolution
With that type of RAM, you can play games in 2133P
Which is almost 4K

Pip313 got a reaction from Ground in What Processor Should I Go If I Have GT1030
Why are people recommending ddr4 systems?
why are people recommending a quad core with a motherboard limited to 4gb ram?
your solution is obvious. Buy a used 2nd or 3rd gen i5 or i7 computer and add your existing ram to the new computer.
youll get a faster cpu, more ram, and not spend much money. Well within your budget.
unless the core 2 duo used ddr2. If they do that’s even more reason to get a 2nd or 3rd gen i5 or i7.

If you can afford 8700k, it's very likely you can afford something like a used 750 Ti or a 660.

Pip313 got a reaction from jools in Geforce GTX 1050ti in Dell OptiPlex 790 mini tower
The factory one. 240w I believe. You really can’t upgrade those psu’s.
but even if your cpu is 90w and the gpu is 75w that still leaves you 75w for a Hdd, motherboard and ram. Which is fine.
remember the 75w tdp isn’t what it actually uses it’s what the heatsink is rated for.

Ram is way expensive, you sound like you can get a great deal on it. That’s definitely an important factor.

Pip313 got a reaction from YourNewPalAlex in Best build for 4K Gaming?
True. Quoting base clock might be a bit over negative.
Enjoy whatever you choose. I was just giving you some things to think about. I don’t know if you just want to build once and be done, are willing to upgrade things like ram or cooler later after some time has past and you have some extra money again, there are plenty of factors financially and performance wise and only you know where your comfortable balance is.

Pip313 reacted to YourNewPalAlex in Best build for 4K Gaming?
okay i got what you mean, buy 8 see if its enough. Then buy 16gb if its not enough. I tought you meant by buy a slower ram kit then get a faster one.

Pip313 got a reaction from dcgreen2k in Am I being scammed?
There is absolutely no evidence that mining constantly is worse than the constant heat up and cool down if a gpu used for gaming.
it would be like saying a car with 50,000 city miles is better than a car with 60,000 highway miles. Everyone knows the constant start and stop of city miles is much harder on the car.
there is also absolutely no evidence that a card gives worse performance when used a lot.
