What Processor Should I Go If I Have GT1030

Hey Guys, I Have Already Own A GT1030 That I Go With An Intel Core 2 Duo. Sadly I've Gotten A Big Bottleneck As I've Seen The GPU Percentage Is 60% And CPU On 100% On Some Games That Required Quad Core CPU. I Need Some Advise On Getting A Good Budget CPU And Motherboard To Get. Thanks In Advance :)

either i3 8100 or G4560 if you wanna go cheaper, they're both more than enough to handle a GT 1030.

for G4560 you need either B250 or H270 motherboard.
and for i3 8100 you need B360 or H370 motherboard.

the advantage of buying an i3 8100 is that you have a really good upgrade path to an i5 8600 or i7 8700 with the B360 / H370 motherboards
you can still upgrade to an i5 7600 or i7 7700 if you get the B250 / H270 motherboard though.

MSI Pro Series Intel B250

Intel Core i3-8100 Desktop Processor

Kingston Technology HyperX FURY Black 8GB 3200MHz DDR4

This would all cost ~$320. It would remove your bottleneck easily. Now to justify some of these.

Motherboard -

Now this is not the cheapest motherboard out there. But it is definitely one of the cheaper 1151 socket motherboard with 4 slots for your RAM. This gives you plent of space to eventually upgrade if you ever wanted more ram. Additionally, MSI is an alright brand. They make solid stuff and their support is not the worst.

CPU -

This i3 is killer and would be the cheapest and most effective way to remove your bottleneck. Quad Core and kicks butt.

RAM -

I would heavily recommend getting any ram in a single stick of 8GB. That gives you plenty of space to upgrade in the future.

All in all, the price tag is well justified and I would recommend aiming for this

Get a used Core 2 Quad Q9400 on eBay for less than $10, and a Hyper 212 Evo (if you're still using a stock cooler). I've paired it with a 750 Ti before and it was well balanced. You don't need to get anything else.

You're seriously overestimating how strong the 1030 is. It's weaker than a GTX 750.

that centence meant that the gt1030 will be holding back the cpu not the other way around.

My mistake. But it's a really weird card, so there is no perfect pairing for it. I think just upgrading to a quad core is the best financial decision.

$8 and you're done. If you get something different, you'll also have to buy a new motherboard and ram. Get that until you can upgrade everything.

Why do people always recommend the newest gen cpu? He wants to run a 1030, a used 2nd gen or 3rd gen computer costs less than ddr4 ram

Oddly enough, old motherboards are more expensive unless you get an OEM one.  He doesn't  even need to go that new though.  He can stick with his current motherboard and buy a quad core.

As I said just buy a whole used pc. It’s cheaper

but it I agree with a quad core for his existing computer if he wants.

its the suggestion to jump straight to 8th gen, a brand new board and expensive ram that I don’t understand

Uhh you do realise the 1030 is not bottlenecking your e7400 right? Shouldn't be anyway because my e8400 running at 3ghz (stock) works fine with a 1030. Could probably put a gtx 760 or a 770 with that thing and your bottleneck would still be tiny.

I'm not surprised, neither the 1030 or the core 2 duo were designed for such a game. Fallout 4 was designed for at least a 2nd gen core i5 and a 550ti, that's at MINIMUM.
