    'modern cases'

this isnt just a render.. this was a product that was sold in 2003.

idiotic cases have always existed, it's just that these days more and more people are buying them, so more and more manufacturers make them.

Well, mold tends to grow where excess moisture is present, would recommend some high conc IPA and a dehumidifier.
If mild is growing, that means that significant moisture is condensing, or that a very moldy area is very nearby.

andrewmp6 reacted to Shimejii in Arctic Liquid Freezer II, which header to use?
CPU Fans = AIO Fans, AIO PUMP = the pump header if it needs it, usually just have the one nowadays though, then sata/usb power

    That sucks. RIP.

I manhandled my AIO, I fit it into spots that it shouldn't have been in, no real problems. It was loud though, and the coolant did permeate making it useless after a few years.

There is no reason to try and convince him. If he's not comfortable with, that's fine. Air cooling is fine.

Here's my pile of "junk" parts from an AIO leak... It's been a long time ago now, IIRC, that was a 3570k build, that actually OC really well. I replaced it with a 4690k that I definitely lost the silicone lottery on. It didn't OC hardly at all. My AIO was right at a year old when it let loose in the system. I tried cleaning the parts, didn't help.

andrewmp6 reacted to rockyroller in AIO vs Air Cooler for CPU. Are the risks worth it?
My first attempt was an AIO by MSI. 6 to 8 months later and then I was getting CPU overheating shutdowns, 8 months later I found out some of the brand had been filled coolant that left fragments in the block preventing flow. I read how MSI were being dicks about RTB saying nothing was wrong, then only some batchs, stc

what I can say 100% is an old W/C gfx card and that AIO in a box I have never leaked. Maybe a cheap brand or a DIY kit and not RTFM might?

So I stripped off the AIO, put the rest in a box to take apart when I get bored, but kept RGB lighting fans in my case and got an nice looking ARGB Air Cooling system.

All I'm going to say is really check once then twice that whatever system you get, AIO or AC that it was made to cool your CPU, or possible upgrade CPU

andrewmp6 reacted to RONOTHAN## in Do I need a AM5 bracket to use with a NZXT Kraken z73 aio?
It performs like a generic Asetek AIO that you can get for 1/3 the price and costs more than other, better performing AIOs like the Liquid Freezer II. It's just a terrible value.

Also, Micro Center usually is only the best deal on CPU/motherboards, everything else it's usually cheaper to go for something from somewhere else.

andrewmp6 reacted to Dukesilver27- in Do I need a AM5 bracket to use with a NZXT Kraken z73 aio?
I'd recommend Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 A-RGB instead, cheaper and performs better. It is not as good of a looker, but that 7950X runs hot and need the best cooler to get the most out of it. So to me, performance trumps appearance.

andrewmp6 reacted to RONOTHAN## in Can I disable blinking yellow light on mobo?
It's the HD_LED. There's probably a way to disable it in the BIOS if you really find it annoying, but don't know exactly where it would be off the top of my head.

If you can't find it in a minute or so, electrical tape would probably be my solution.

andrewmp6 reacted to Coaxialgamer in What to upgrade
This is a great time to pick up bargains the used market, what with the crypto crash and next-gen GPU launches and all. I myself got my hands on a 2080 for 3050/3060 prices a few months ago.If you play your cards right, an RX6900XT, RTX2080ti or RTX3080 are all more or less attainable in the 500-600 USD range the 3070 typically sells for.

As for new hardware, there isn't much else in that price range apart from something like an RX6800 or 6700XT. Both offer similar-ish performance to the 3070, so if you don't see that card as a worthwhile upgrade you're unlikely to see them as one either. Wait for new GPUs to come out if that's what you want.

andrewmp6 reacted to CaseLabs in CaseLabs is returning - what spare parts do you need right now?
The Bullet series mounts the motherboard horinztonally. The BH2 is a mITX case, the BH4 is a mATX. and the BH8 is a EATX case. I think those are the smallest cases we have that mounts the motherboard horizontally.

Must have missed your post. Seems like they are selling filters four most of our models. I agree that the dust filters should be integrated somehow and not an aftermarket solution. We can't speak about the mesh, but it is a balancing act trying to get good filtration while still getting good performance.
Thank you so much. Yeah, we would probably do a SFF and mATX size, we would like to do something small to off-set all the big we have. In the end, it all depends on what our customers would want, we won't release something that isn't sought after by our fans and friends. 🙂
