Nicnac reacted to Velcade in Any Tips for Job Interview
This is huge. I can't tell you the number of applicants who have told me they're familiar with pieces of equipment we have in the lab and I ask them questions about it and then they change their tune. Interview is over at that point.
You're not expected to know everything but you are expected to know what you say you know.
Don't be afraid to ask questions back to the interviewer. Research the hospital and their mission statement. Remember you're also interviewing them. The fit needs to be there from both sides.

just get to know a little bit about the hospital though I don't think this is important when applying at a hospital

Relax, they need doctors here. A foreign doctor is also nothing new here. Germans are also extremly friendly towards immigrants, so you don´t have to worry about that in the interview. A question I regularly get is "where do you see yourself in x years?".

Don't look them in the eye, don't shake hands, mumble through the mask, try to ignore the fact that it feels like you're waterboarding yourself, keep 6ft. Make the meeting super awkward as you leave by going to shake hands and then remembering you can't do that and try to find a way out of it.
At least that's what I had to do. Didn't get the job though.

Nicnac reacted to Letgomyleghoe in AMD Radeon 6000 Stock "Seems Pretty Terrible" According to Hardware Unboxed
this is only the stock of cards in australia.
a relatively small country population wise, since he didn't state the actual stock and just says "seems pretty terrible" we don't know what exactly that means.

First, Thank-you all for the well wishes after the Derecho, They were/ are well appreciated.
*Project Update November 12, 2020
Things are back in swing with getting this back on track, I have been doing the number game and getting the budget together to run a new service to the garage. Hopefully I can get all I need (hardware and supplies) purchased by end of the year and start getting it installed in January. Granted it will be winter at that time but I dont see to much to worry over it really. Once I get the meter box installed and the service wire run I just need to call the Electric company to get it hooked up at the pole. I have most of what I need done inside the garage already.
Expect the next update around mid/late January 2021 👍

Nicnac reacted to leadeater in [RUMOR] AMD's mid-tier RX 6800 may be 1.5 times faster than Nvidia's top-tier RTX 3090 at mining

Nicnac reacted to LAwLz in RTX 3080 Ti Teased
He "predicted" the specs, and he predicted them incorrectly.
He also said it was rumors.
Kopite, as far as I can tell, has not actually predicted anything correctly so far. He throws around a bunch of contradicting rumors on Twitter.

Nicnac reacted to FaxedForward in AMD RX 6800XT AIB synthetic benchmarks: Pure rasterized faster than RTX 3080, RT on par with RTX 2080 Ti
3DMark, Firestrike, Time Spy, and Port Royal benchmarks are now appearing for the AMD Radeon RX 6800XT Navi 21 AIB models. The 6800XT is the only AIB model at this time, the higher end 6900 or XTX (final name unknown) that is exclusive to AMD has not yet been thoroughly benchmarked.
Quotes
If these numbers are accurate, it seems like AMD will have a truly competitive offering for the first time in many years. The inferior RT performance is not terribly surprising given AMD's new support of the feature, but that is likely not a deal breaker for many PC enthusiasts. Of course, the major question is price. If AMD asks 3080 money for the 6800XT, the reception may not be great. However, if it's $100-200 less, AMD may have a winner on its hands.

It's not exactly a nothing burger. It's a discrete implant with extremely precise connections, there isn't anything like it available. The application, that big robot they are developing is also a game changer.
And yes, the ability to understand exactly how to interact with synapses and neurons to do stuff he wants to achieve will probably take decades, but this can very much speed up tremendously the knowledge acquisition. And meanwhile, can more easily be a game changer for some diseases that require the understand of simple stimulus, like paralysis of some part of the body, as an example.
Elon created this company back on 2016, invested $100 M out of his own pocket and gathered other 58. There hasn't been public knowledge of public acquisitions related to its R&D, but it paired with the University of California for it.

He owns a bunch of crap and has owned it for a good while. They worked on this thing for years before an initial thing about it was done some months ago.
