This is some stuff I've been making with a modified Assetto Corsa engine lately. Be sure to open in full to appreciate the glory of the resolution.

Depends entirely on how much you personally mind the dongle life. If it isn't that big of a deal to you, buy it and be happy. If it is a big deal to you, then go for the other option, or search for a different computer. Not really objective, purely subjective in this case.

Honestly, not trying to tear you down, but unless you're getting an amazing deal, that could be one of the worst laptops on the market for your needs. I recommend shopping around on Newegg to find a machine that provides a bit more oomph in a more power efficient package.

Magikarpdrowned got a reaction from J.Munslow in what's the best used gpu i can get for the cost of a new entry level card?
I know you're asking for a used card, but it sounds like the card you want is a Radeon RX460, which is a newer card. It's right in the $120 range, and has very good perf for the price, on top of excellent power/heat management. If you're positive you want to go the used route, I might check up on how far the price of the GTX960 has fallen.

Son, you are nowhere close to the only one with this complaint, it happened with every major technological innovation throughout history, and it will never stop. Sensationalist headlines, astonishing "facts," and attention grabbing "stats" will forever trump science and reason for it is only human nature to prefer the sensationalized version of reality. No amount of yelling or anger will re-wire someone's brain, nor will it even likely change their opinion.

Title sums it up pretty well. I'm using a custom modified version of the Assetto Corsa engine and models, made to work with SSLR and PCSS to make it look purdy. Enjoy eye candy I suppose, these would be higher resolution if I possessed the mental capacity to understand how to apply dynamic superresolution to specific applications / then force them into a different aspect ratio once the application is being cast in a superresolution environment (if that makes any sense :P)

    1. People who walk entirely too slowly/mosey around while they are transfixed on their phone.

    2. The kids at my school who decide that right in front of where people need to go is the absolute best place to hold a prolonged facebattle while whispering "I love you" to eachother. Like please, I don't think it is genuinely that difficult for you to keep it in your pants for another hour or so.

Magikarpdrowned got a reaction from Brennan Price in Experiences with non-techies
I was talking to a kid today (who by the way seemed to be pretty tech savvy) about GPUs, and how I'm not ready to drop all of my savings on an RX 480. He tells me that those are way too expensive, and that I should just look up "cheap graphics cards" on the Oul' Google. Just to appease him, I did just that. He points the the Radeon HD 3470 on the suggested "to buy" list and says "Look, that one! That's what my mom got me for my birthday."

That was the last time I talked to that kid.

I also have a good friend who insists that Chromebooks at school were "easy to hack." He had to explain to the technology administrator why his device decided to nuke itself during the middle of class while he claimed to have just been pressing random buttons. He eventually wanted to put Kali on the computer...

While I'm on a role with stories from this particular school, we might as well mention the fact that until last year, our school district did not allow students to change their passwords. The Password was always your birth date. Some kid decided he wanted to be a 1337 Hax0r and "hack" (I've used a lot of quotes, haven't I) our Google Docs document that we were using to pass answers around during class. He just logged into one of our accounts and replaced everything with this long rant about how his dad taught him how to get into the Google HQ, and that he could to anything if he wished. I just forwarded the document to the Superintendent and boom, the very next year we got customizable passwords.

And then there was the time I killed my 3 year old Chromebook by OC'ing the chip a solid 1GHz above anything it should have ever touched. I got a newer Chromebook out of the whole fiasco so I consider the entire endeavor to be a success.

Ooooooohhhhhh shit here we go. I was hoping nobody would pull that shit but nope, here we have it.

The very basis, the very heart and center of a Representative Republic is the public's ability to control and lead (and by extension be) their own government, and their own fighting force. Likewise, they have every right and even potential responsibility to speak out against the government and country, regardless of who died for it. "Insulting the country" is well within the rights of any American, and should be acted upon as such.
Because it is not insulting, it is criticism. Those brave men and women (of which my family is chock full of) fight for an America where people have the freedom to express their disdain for the government. If they died for that right and nobody ever used it what the hell is the point of them putting their lives on the line?!?!?

I could go on, but I don't think it's worth my time.

EDIT: No, I'm going to keep going because this shit hit a nerve with me. Have you ever served in the American Military, or worked in a service position for the US? Have you ever met someone who has done either of those things? I'm asking genuinely, because I honestly don't think you have. If you have.., ask them what they fight for, what they serve for. They aren't gonna tell you the government, they aren't gonna tell you they do it for the paycheck, they do it to protect the freedoms of those back at home. And one of those very basic, very rudimentary, very important is the right to criticize the government and the country without unreasonable recourse. God, it just pisses me off when people don't even take time to think about what they're typing, they just copy and paste the same shit every day trying to mascaraed as a solid argument.

When I went to Japan a couple of weeks ago, we hit Tokyo and Nara, both are places I would definitely recommend.

For stuff to do in Tokyo:
Go to Odaiba, visit the Miraikan science museum. Visit Harajuku and the Meiji-jingu Shrine. DEFINETLY visit Akihabara if you're big into video games of anime, it's a paradise. Go to the top of Tokyo Tower and just get a brief idea of the sheer scale of Tokyo, it's insane. Information: Tokyo is big. It's not just a quick 20 minute subway hop from "Uptown" to the neighborhoods. It's an hour long bus ride to get pretty much anywhere (assuming you get on something chartered, if not then RIP)
Tokyo is BIIIIIIGGGGGG, there's no way anybody can list all of the cool places to go. I'd suggest taking a day to explore and just discover. Don't be afraid to roam the city, it's very safe and very friendly. Just don't be stupid and you'll be fine.
I personally experienced a lot more anti-western hate in Osaka, but that may have been a coincidence.

    Travel:
Unless you're in Business class, you're in for a bad time coming from America. Just stock up on food and drinks, try to snag a premium economy seat, and BRING A NECK PILLOW!!!!!
ANA and JAL are your best bets, but out of the times I have flow there, DAL was by far and away not the worst experience I had traveling there. Avoid United!

    Lodging:
If you can find a homestay (with enough room) DO IT! It's a great experience that you won't regret. The Japanese home life is a completely different experience than staying in a hotel. If you feel uncomfortable with talking a lot or just being around new people, I'd go ahead and pass on it this time around.\

    "Bucket List Items"
Visit Family Mart, Lawson Station, and 7&iHoldings. All three are great. Try to go to Miraikan in time for one of their Asimo robot demonstrations. If you love AI, it's awesome fun. If you fear the Matrix, it will make you piss your pants. Go over the Rainbow Bridge. Just do it. Travel to another city via Bullet Train. The fastest the train ever gets is on the Nozomi Superexpress line from Tokyo to Kyoto/Osaka. Visit Kyoto/Osaka/Nara. All very close together, all full of amazing history, food, and museums. Must see! Drink Pocari Sweat. It sounds nasty, but it's just kinda like propel. It's good.
