Creating a hackintosh out of my current Windows PC

Magikarpdrowned

Greetings!

I would like to know if anyone could point me in the direction of instructions to create a hackintosh out of my pre-existing windows system. My aim is to partition one of my windows drives (of which there are three, one boot SSD, one data SSD, which I would like to use for MacOS, and one HDD for data overflow.) I have been looking around online for some instructions but the general instructions I am finding assume you are building a purely MacOS rig and that you are starting from scratch. If anyone could provide instructions for how to convert my pre-existing rig into a hackintosh without losing any data or having to do mass backup/restore schemes it would be greatly appreciated. I can provide detailed system specs and information if needed.

Thanks!

Specs are important

I provided a couple of links for hackintoshing discord servers in the S.U below.

One is for AMD CPU's: AMD OS X

The other one is for Intel CPU's: /r/Hackintosh Paradise

There are other dedicated forums, like the ones below, that may have guides for specific hardware

Use an utility like GParted to shrink your NTFS partition and create an HFS+ partition, since the macOS Disk Utility sometimes refuses to interact with NTFS partitions, and ignores free space.

Guide for readying the drive with GParted: https://hackintosh-multiboot.gitbook.io/hackintosh-multiboot/uefi/1-disk-+-winders-loonix

After that, use this guide to set up an USB installer without a Mac: https://internet-install.gitbook.io/macos-internet-install/

Then, use this guide for installing (skip the USB creation part) : https://hackintosh.gitbook.io/-r-hackintosh-vanilla-desktop-guide/

Using tools like Unibeast and Multibeast might be tempting, but these tools can cause stability issues because of the way they patch the system and such.

EDIT: Haven't asked if you're using UEFI or Legacy. Legacy is a bit trickier usually. Look into the other tabs in the first guide if you're using Legacy.

Thanks! Will look into this. What do you reckon is the smallest partition I could get away with? Including OS, would it be usable for light tasking and a few crucial apps if I allocated 100GB?

That is quite more than enough. Looks like the OS uses less than 12GB installed. Good luck!
