Luke got a reaction from TheFrozenBenji in Zalman Z11 Fan Filter.
Just a heads up to anyone that owns a Zalman Z11 or is looking to buy one, You do NOT need to remove the front panel to replace the front fan or clean the filter. I spent a long time searching for a case to buy when i was on a budget and in many reviews the reviewers complained about how you had to remove the front panel to clean the filter or replace the fan and how hard it was to do so.

There are four little tabs on the cover that i pushed on with a screw driver to remove it. I filed down the plastic on the tabs to make it easier to remove in the future but that's just preference.

Windows Update works more often than not, if your system is behaving as expected there is nothing more to do.

If something is not then trying the proprietary drivers could fix it.

Luke reacted to Jurrunio in What causes a memory controller on a CPU to go bad?
Too much voltage (not sure how much DIMM voltage hurts it, but VCCSA and VCCIO can do a lot of damage), age, bad contact (either the pins or the socket, in this case unlikely to be the socket).

I think it's just old. 1.65V DIMM voltage is fine (could go higher imo), 1.26V Core is totally safe (1.35V is still safe imo, and it doesnt affect the memory controller), VCCIN (CPU input voltage) can be anywhere from 1.8V to 2V without problems (as long as you cool the CPU properly), VCCSA imo max at 1.3V and VCCIO at 1.25V.

@Turtle Rig keep your non sense elsewhere, that wont help with dropping memory channels in the slightest.

Very bad luck.  You can abuse BCLK and your still fine.  It will die when the motherboard dies.

Luke reacted to SydneySideSteveSomewheres in How can i get a better signal in this scenario?
If every device that wants to connect to the internet via the campground's WiFi has to make its own signed connection. Then that in itself is slowing the outbound connection via the campground gateway.

What you could do is use a Windows 10 computer as a mobile hotspot, and this could then be the distribution point for a single strong internet connection.
Depending on how much other traffic is within the campground and how stealth you would like this connection to be between the main router and your friend the end user.
A small machine such as a home media server that is running Windows 10 OS (or another desktop machine) that will always be switched on and, has a WiFi card with external antenna connectors (such as the SilverStone ECWA1 Wireless Mini PCIe Adapter) would be required.
Maximum stealth; attach to the machine a 2.4GHz Indoor 5dBi Gain Omni-Directional Antenna (D-Link or similar) and open the window when you need that connection. Medium stealth; attach to the machine a 2.4GHz WiFi External Antenna with extension cable outside the occupants' residence. No stealth; attach to the machine a 2.4GHz Outdoor 18dBi High Gain Directional Panel Antenna which is big and, everyone else in the campground will see it and, they want their own. With more users doing this it will possibly degrade the signal strength from the main router to the internet and, you would be back at square one!

This happened to me once. The Windows boot manager got installed on the second drive instead of on the same drive as the OS.

No. That's just naive. Nothing is completely safe. Paypal is probably better than any alternative, but it's not fool proof.

So it's been a long time since I had to deal with paypal holding funds. However as a seller, if you provide proper tracking information, as soon as the item is received by the buyer, you could contact PayPal and tell them the item was received, and the funds are usually released pretty quickly. However that's how it used to be, not sure if it still is (you can have the seller check).

Yes, PayPal is safe.  Paypal will hold the money from the seller for a few weeks to ensure the seller actually sends you the thing.

    Any seller who 'doesn't trust PayPal' either;
    A) Is planning to fuck you and doesn't trust PayPal to let them get away with fucking you.
    B) To stupid/paranoid to do business with.

Well to answer the question, I think Enderman covered it: yes, this is accurate, because it's just telling you what the drive recorded for itself and I am not aware of anything that would corrupt that in such a way

its one of the codec for uncompressed videos or pictures usually from 4K supported cameras like Nikon,Canon,  Blackmagic 4K etc

H.264 is the common standard for video codec and is the highly compressed version much like the JPEG for pictures files

you can see the link i have given for sizes of 4K and 1080P in different codec and devices

The Blackmagic 4K with ProRes is already eating 318GB( ok my bad here is slightly compressed)

in RAW its actually 741.6GB per 1 hour footage file

its def on the heavy side but my guess is that the SSD was used for 4K RAW footage scratch disk

1 hour of 4K RAW is 318GB already

so imagine 1 day of 4K is 7.76 TB

    what in the actual...
500 power on count, 928 power on hours, 98 TB written!?
So lets envision how this happened...
It was turned on, had 200 GB written to it at a rate of 30 MB/s (this taking of course about 1.9 hours), and then it was turned off, and this was repeated 500 times.

... who used this thing before you and for what!?

Luke reacted to Enderman in Is CrystalDiskInfo always accurate? This seems off.
Crystaldiskinfo just reads the SMART data from the SSD.
No other program will give you a different value because the SMART data will be the same.
This is why you do not buy used storage.

Luke reacted to Brooksie359 in Do Skylake CPU's have crap TIM or is it only Kaby lake?
My educated guess would be that skylake reached other limitations much sooner so thermal limitations weren't a problem while kaby lake had them because the other limitations where fixed in the revision from skylake to kaby lake. Just a theory though.

Luke reacted to Enderman in Do Skylake CPU's have crap TIM or is it only Kaby lake?
The TIM is all the same, it's fine for normal overclocking, not "crap".
Obviously aftermarket stuff is better if you want to push your CPU further, but that requires delidding.

Luke reacted to SwingLifeAway92 in Do Skylake CPU's have crap TIM or is it only Kaby lake?
@Luke It mostly has to do with delidding becoming so popular due to all the YouTube popularity and videos that came out around the release of the 7700k

Luke reacted to cc143 in Is a Nikon D5200 a decent first camera?
The d5200 is pretty old at this point, you should really consider weather its worth buying versus spending something more to get a newer camera from that tier.

I would second the Canon route as a Canon user, but the two are pretty interchangeable and the photographer plays a much bigger role. That said, I always hated the ergonomics of smaller nikons, mainly the control layouts.

What you may also want to consider in this decision is that nikon's lens mount is pretty old. That means you have a more wide variety of glass you could use (even though at this point the EF mount also has a great number of amazing offerings). However their lower tier models like the d3x00 series and d5x00 series lack an in body AF motor, so only much newer lenses will Focus on them.

The D5200 is a pretty solid camera. I used the D5300 with an ex GF to film her final project, worked like a dream.
If you're getting into photography I'd pick up a 50mm lens, and that's all you really need as a beginner. Then you can expand later on. I'd check to see which cameras have the featuers you want; some are better at video than others.

Luke reacted to HKZeroFive in Intel Preparing Multiple Hexacore Coffee Lake CPUs
While AMD has certainly dominated the headlines this week, more details about Intel's upcoming Coffee Lake CPUs have begun to emerge.
The power of competition, ladies and gentlemen!

The real interesting part is the Core i5 with six cores and six threads, which basically goes beyond the i7-7700K. I'd love to see the price and performance on that... it could honestly give AMD a hard time.

We've also yet to receive any answer or news about whether or not we'll need new motherboards for these Coffee Lake CPUs or if they are compatible with current Z170 and Z270 motherboards and only require a BIOS update. We all hope for the latter but this is Intel we're talking about.

Overall, it looks like Intel is making some huge moves. It'll all come down to pricing since I don't think anyone here is doubting performance. Exciting stuff.
