Do Skylake CPU's have crap TIM or is it only Kaby lake?

I remember when the i7 7700K came out everyone went nuts about how hot it ran but i don't remember hearing the same about the 6700K. I know neither CPU is soldered but did the quality of the TIM go downhill on just the Kaby lake CPU's or was it bad for Skylake as well?

All modern intel cpus are TIM AMD is the only company with soldered atm

@Luke Ah sorry one of those little sleep days  yeah no the 6700k and 7700k are pretty much the exact same except for stock clock speeds so thermals are a problem on both

All modern Intel units use the s***ty TIM stuff. X299 not even soldered

skylake is perfectly fine - never heard complaints with its tim

No prob. Thanks! I guess the higher temps on the 7600K and 7700K are mostly from the higher clock speeds then? It still seems odd how delidding was being brought up constantly when Kaby lake released and how many complaints there were about the 7700K temperatures when overclocked even though the 6700K is virtually the same CPU.

@Luke It mostly has to do with delidding becoming so popular due to all the YouTube popularity and videos that came out around the release of the 7700k

The TIM is all the same, it's fine for normal overclocking, not "crap".

Obviously aftermarket stuff is better if you want to push your CPU further, but that requires delidding.

My educated guess would be that skylake reached other limitations much sooner so thermal limitations weren't a problem while kaby lake had them because the other limitations where fixed in the revision from skylake to kaby lake. Just a theory though.
