A good 550W PSU, such as the RM550X, is more than enough power for a single CPU and GPU setup

No. I don't know what PSU you're talking about, but if it doesn't have a PCIe 8pin connector, it's going to be crap, or really old.

Saying you're poor, doesn't make it suddenly okay to use crap PSU.

There's a TS Bronze, and a TS Gold. One is an S12II, the other is a S12G.

That being said, I'd swap it anyway.

That's all just silicone. They use it to lessen vibrations, so the PSU doesn't resonate as much, so is quieter.

There's be 2 plastic push pins, and a lug in each. You should be able to push out the lug a little bit on the back, then use a set of plyers to pull it out all the way.
The pushpins then should be able to be pulled out, and then remove the heatsink.

Corsair uses a custom 135mm fans in a lot of their newer models, including the RMi. They don't sell these as stand alone fans, I guess because 135mm isn't a standard size, so no one would buy them.

And once again, don't. Buy a new PSU, specifically a quiet one.

A 2009 Holden Cruze and 2009 Holden Commodore, are both cars from the same brand, and are the same age, though are very different cars. One's a Korean made pos, the other is a fairly well built Australian car.

Model matters. Same applies with PSUs.

comicsansms got a reaction from Dedayog in Psu power cord?
That's not true. You can buy all Corsair PSUs with no power cords (-ww variants, just like how there's -au, -eu, -uk, -za... variants for each different power cable).

And a lot of PSUs sold as "OEM units" don't either.

A power cable only costs a couple of dollars, and if it's real cable (not those copper coated aluminium crap that you get off eBay with the death laptop chargers), and the right connector, it will work. I know I have about 15 spare lying around in my house (though a lot are pre 2005 AU cables, so I would not use them).

Only buy genuine, or from a trusted reproduction battery company. If it's too good to be true, it is. You can buy 1st party batteries new - never used off ebay fairly easily. They'll cost between $60 and $90.

No name 3rd party batteries are absolute garbage. Some are better than others, but that doesn't make them good. Their battery life is not great, they don't last long (like will die within a year, maybe even 1 month), and they are potentially hazards.

Yes. More resistance, more voltage drop.

Shit extensions are fire hazards. Decent ones should be safe, (assuming you aren't running a lot of current through them - like a high power GPU. If so, definitely no), but may cause your system to become unstable.

Don't use extensions. If you want funky cables, buy a full modular PSU and custom cables.

comicsansms got a reaction from Vejnemojnen in is Corsair Vengeance 650M good psu?
If you read my response, you would actually know that an extreme edition and GTX 1080ti only uses about 370W DC on all rails, so you are EASILY fine with a 1080...

Also, your threads are an absolute cluster fuck, so it's not surprising I couldn't find that piece of info (which I didn't need anyway, since I've stated a more power hungry card is fine with a good 400W supply).

comicsansms got a reaction from amardilo in Best Power Supply 400w or under
He's saying that lower wattage PSUs are often not great, because they need to reduce cost significantly, so use cheaper platforms.

He's saying you should be asking for a PSU suggestion, not a PSU suggestion within a range of watts.

A lot of PSUs use a lesser platform for PSUs lower than 400W (assuming they have PSUs that low). Though that's not a rule, just a trend. The Seasonic S12II 430W uses a different platform the the S12II 520/620W (Not recommending the S12II/M12II of any wattage), and there'll be cases the other way around too.

Also, keep in mind OEMs like HP, Dell, ACER... live in their own little bubble where they aren't marketing the PSUs wattage, so only get what they need, so will save the 10's of cents to get what they need. So just because they have a 350W PSU, doesn't make them bad.

Don't get a 650W supply. They almost never make any sense. Should you get a 550W supply over a 450W? It really depends on what's available in your market.

And why would you? That doesn't help them. You're giving the illusion of helping, which is worse than not replying, because you're passively agreeing, instead of giving suggestions.

And no, a 120GB SSD is a decent option, since 120GB SSDs are about half the price of a 240GB SSD. It works especially if they have an old PC they can pitch a HDD from, if they need more storage.
