Leave them alone... at least for a few days, a week or more would be better!

Do not put them in direct heat either. Put them in a living room/bedroom where the temperature is more of a constant (not in the bathroom even though the temperature is usually more or less static, the humidity rises/falls too quickly).

I you have some packets of silica gell, put them on-top/around the drives.

When dried out, connect only power (no sata) to see if they spin up. If power up, then power down and connect SATA and see what happens.

If they don't spin up however, all is not lost, they can still be repaired by replacing the PCB or swapping out the BIOS on the PCB (that's really complicated though. My soldering skills aren't up to that task, and I can't find anyone I need to do the repair for me, and I live in Central London, have found a company in Canada, but its quite expensive)...

if you let all the water evaporate then theoretically your pcb should be fine, not sure about residue on the platters on the hdd but it is also prolly ok

Fun fact: I once pulled a Dell P1110 CRT monitor indoors form the curb, after 4 days straight of rain, all I did was let it dry for three days straight and it turned on no problem.  I of course did NOT even plug it in when it was wet.

Water, at least clean water, so not so much like FLOOD water, doesn't harm most electronics so long as there's no power going through them.  Let them dry out and it's almost certain that it's fine.

Raiden60 reacted to MattBoxer in Is powerline a good alternative to WiFi?
Its is much better that WiFi in my experience but it may be a good idea to look closer at some of the specs for them as they can be rated for 500Mbps but only have a 100Mbps port. However make sure to check other reviews as mine only lasted a year and a bit before it developed connection problems where it cuts out every 2 hours or so.

Raiden60 reacted to porina in Is powerline a good alternative to WiFi?
I use it to bring networking to a cluster of PCs in a bedroom. After some initial weirdness it seems to have stabilised and is reliable. I can't recall what speeds I'm getting over it but let's call it 100mbit class and not a limit for my slower internet. I don't really use it for gaming or big file transfers so can't comment on that.

Alternatively you could also look at moving to the less congested 5 GHz band for wifi, if your devices support it?

Raiden60 reacted to GoodBytes in Allocate programs to pagefile
Your CPU can only interact with your RAM to execute instructions. Pagefile is a trick OS do to expand your RAM, and is entirely managed by the OS. If you ate low in RAM, Windows will automatically move Chrome tabs to your page file. Windows, and any other OS, have a complex algorithm it uses to know what to put in your page file, so that it minimized the impact on your system general experience level in responsiveness. (Remember as you CPU can only work with your RAM, it needs first to have its needed data copies from your pagefile to your RAM, meaning it will be unresponsive until it gets to your RAM fully.)

but... putting games on your SSD literally doesnt matter in 90% of cases, why even bother?

you're much better off using your SSD for your os, so everything is much more snappy.

Depends on your rig, what you prefer and many other factors

4k is arguably more about the eye candy, but 1440p is still extremely sharp, for fast paced games and shooters 144hz is amazing, for slower RPGs etc 4k might be more important

4k can still have scaling issues on smaller displays so thats worth bearing in mind too

Personally I think 1440p 144hz is the best option, 1440p is easier to run, no real scaling issues etc

it disables all privacy-concerning things with register updates and whatnot. It works really well.

Not really. The 5820K is very good value for what it is. There's the 1231v3 that's a good alternative to the 4790, but not much to compete with 2011-3 CPUs. (At least, not the 5820K. There's probably better options than the 5960X)

Well no. SLI came first before Crossfire. Crossfire is AMD's version of SLI technically. NVIDIA didn't even create SLI.

Peripherals(particularly monitors) bump up the price a fair bit. Especially 1440p and 4K, but IMO you should avoid 4K as it is ridiculous to run
