Do you do anything else besides gaming? Because 7950x as a gaming cpu makes absolutely 0 sense, no matter its price being "cheaper".

Did  you not listen to the people saying how much of a bad idea it was to choose the 7950x over the 7800x3D for gaming?

At this point id wait, 7950x is more then enough until ryzen 9000 launches if you want to sell now though and buy a 7800x3D thats up to you. Makes it much better for games but if you do other stuff that made you buy the 7950x in the first place you will be missing out.

Basically they are no big changes in OLED.

I have C9 purchase in year 2020, I think release in 2019 if not mistaken.

I also recently purchased OLED Flex in year 2023 which similar as C2. From release year, it is around 4 years differences.

Result Yes the OLED Flex is ahead better than C9 especially on the brightness side only, but it is not a wow factor, the C9 still look pretty great and better than many display in the market.

If you want save some cost, buy the model a year before, for example purchase the C3 when C4 is out, but need to be quick as it is last stock availability.

as mentioned above not many changes in 5 years.

I went with the LG B2 as its the best bang for the buck, it doesnt have 4 2.1 ports but it does have 120hz gsync on 2. I would save a buck or two and go with the B2/B3/B4 it offers all of the same things its just that the C series does get a bit brighter and has better gradient handling but that doesn't say much when it is so minor. after reading on rtings.com I noticed in some senerios the B2 gets brighter than the c2 in different windows of brightness. when you read comparisons its best case senario and in real world usage you just wont notice it unless they are side by side.

its also worth noting the B2 has better color coverage than the c2, but its so minor its basically nihl difference

I could give 5 shi*s about going from 120hertz to 144hertz. My C2 48in does the job and then some. I'll wait until they get to over 200hertz for me to upgrade. 24hertz increase and buy an entire new TV when my C2 works fine? Ummm, no.

I daubt i lack knowledge since ive been building pcs for people and myself for 10years + with tuning learned from buildzoid and others, i even gave guidelines to techyescity(Bryan) considering x99 xeon tuning and i build and modded many chinese x99 boards and cpu's. I have all tools needed, and i spend weaks in finding correct stable values for undervolt 7950x and i did the same when i had zen 3, zen 2 and even zen 1. Considering cooling i am using arctic 420mm aio and my tuned 7950x gets 40k+ points in cinebench r23, Funny thing is that C state limiter in 7950x never got away, no matter what all cores won't be exceeding 5.5ghz, talked with asrock, they said they can't do anything because it's AMD agesa introduced limit, c state limit wasn't there in release bios it was introduced in agesa 1.0.0.2, cpu would be boosting up to 5.8ghz all core  with release agesa, just sad that for some reason AMD decided to limit all zen 4 cpu's to maximum 5.5ghz, Anyway even that didn't help, i had 200-220fps with my combo in early wz2 launch it was fine and well within what my rtx 3080 could do, however my e5 2696v3 tuned could do 120-140fps at same time, not sure how it performce now, need to get wz2 install to that backup pc. However main thing is that after each season zen 4 performance drastically drops. And this thing caused me going crazy, while intel cpus perform way way better.

7950x is not a gaming CPU, its a production CPU that can also game very well. If you were just gaming then the 7800x3D Made way more sense buying at the time then a 7950x.

7950x is not bottlenecking a 2080. Are there some games that prefer the 3DVCACHE on the 5800x3d/7800x3d? Yes. You arent missing out on much, i would wait 1-2 years for a big enough upgrade to matter. You can certainly try selling the CPU, take the 200-300$ loss more then likely and buy a 7800x3D and then get that small boost, or you can simply play a much better game then COD

Hey guys, been using 7950x for a year now, got it because it was discounted a lot during holidays and was highest clocked zen 4 cpu. I had RTX 3080, then in april i got rtx 4090 which i had only for a month, i returned it to rma because of faulty heatsink from suprim x and got money back, decided not to buy it again. However conclusion was, that 7950x tuned with 6000mhz cl30 tuned ram was bottlenecking 4090 in games i play, i play mainly warzone 2 and fps wasn't higher compared to 3080 at competetive settings. Now my 3080 is at RMA because of artifacts and i am waiting for response. Got RTX 2080 for 180$ during summer as backup, currently plugged it and tried lowest settings and 7950x is bottlenecking rtx 2080 in wz2 its insane, how demanding call of duty becomes after each season becomes more and more demanding. I am really considering selling 7950x and maybe getting 7800x3D because somehow in cod even now it gets up to 300fps while 7950x can't exceed 160fps and rtx 2080 which is only used at 70%. Should i do it ? or should i wait for zen 5 and then upgrade ? Depending on what will be conclusion with RTX 3080, i will either keep it as is if it won't be fixed or if i get refund i will be buying 7900 xtx, however 7950x will be holding it back too. Give me your thoughts? why cod hates AMD cpus so much 😞

That's a little bit generous, the 7900XTX is more in line with a little less than a 3080 at its raw RT power if you look at it in depth.

But other than that, I would just get another 4090 if I had the money, hell I would've taken the Gigabyte replacement and wouldn't have thought about it too much. Waiting for next releases is not something I like to do. My second choice would be a 4080 and not a 7900XTX. Being forced to use FSR means having no upscaler at all to me. Not having DLSS is kind of a deal breaker for me these days specially with the new updates. also the 4080 is a lot more efficient and doesn't idle at 100w if you have more than one monitor. I don't like spending in the 1k price range for a GPU and still have to turn some graphical options off.

TL DR: Gigabyte 3080 had issues and upgraded to a 4090 that also had issues and store wanted to exchange for a Gigabyte 4090 and refused after past experience. Now looking into a 7900XTX and wondering if it's worth it especially due to RTX 4090 prices increasing. Don't care about raytracing and is still a fast card. What are your thoughts???

There isn't anything wrong gaming with an AMD card and I've been pretty happy with my AMD Radeon  RX 6900XT. Honestly, they aren't a bad option like the 7900XTX, except for the 7900XT where you can grab a 6950XT for nearly identical performance for less money. This is the only thing that sucks with AMD's high end options as they have never been good enough to compete Nvidia's 90 series cards except for last generation (6900/6950XT vs 3090). Since you don't care about RT performance, then I'd go for an AMD card.

I think in your instance, theres 4 options

    1. If you want to keep your warranty, RMA it. Id imagine that theres a decently small chance that the second card would have the same issue
2.If you don't care about your warranty, you can pull the shroud off, read the part number of the fan, and see if you can buy a new one yourself and replace it.
    3. sell the card second hand and use the money to buy a new 4090 from a different brand
    4. ignore it entirely and play your music louder

this is basically what i would do in order

The regular XT just doesn't give a big enough performance boost. To me, unless it's a 50% increase, there's really no point in upgrading - it's just not that meaningful of an uplift.

    Here's Techspot's 16 game average from their 7900XT review. There's only a 30% increase in performance going from the 3080 10GB. The only cards that offer more than a 50% boost are the 4080 (51%), 7900XTX (57%), and 4090 (98%).

As for the RTX 4080, the OP is worried about the amount of VRAM. The 7900XTX and 4090 both offer 24GB, but the 4080 has just 16GB. Since the OP is struggling with 10GB, and seems like using 20GB+ is possible, 16GB doesn't seem sufficient.

but if you want to upgrade then go ahead but I dont think outside of the 4090 the costs for a new card are going to blow you away. Thats just my opinion and my reasoning for staying on my 3080 for a good while longer.

Tadziunia reacted to YoungBlade in RTX 3080 10gb upgrade suggestions?
You have the right idea in that, from a 3080, the only upgrades right now are either a 4090 or 7900XTX - nothing else really makes any sense.

The 4090 is faster than the 7900XTX in general rasterization performance. There are a couple of outlier games where the 7900XTX pulls out a narrow win, but they are by far the exception, not the rule. So do note that, with the 7900XTX, it isn't like the 6900XT vs the RTX 3090, where you're getting about the same level of performance either way. The 4090 is about 25-30% faster for gaming even without RT. So if you need to max things out at any cost, the RTX 4090 will be more capable of doing that.

That's not to say the 7900XTX can't - I don't know of any game it can't run maxed out until RT comes into the mix - but the 4090 will age better, even without RT and DLSS. Whether or not it will age €600 better is a different question.

I think the next generation of graphics cards is going to be much faster again compared to the current one, and it seems like Nvidia's pricing strategy is starting to fall apart, so the 5000 series and 8000 series respectively should be in a better place in terms of price/performance. All that to say that I expect 4090 levels of performance to cost significantly less next gen. So you may have another upgrade option available for less than you're paying today by the time the 7900XTX starts to show signs of aging.

Another consideration in all of this is your CPU. If your CPU is holding you back some, the 7900XTX may be better overall for that use case. This is because Nvidia uses a multi-threading software scheduler that runs on the CPU via its driver, whereas AMD uses a hardware scheduler on the graphics card itself. So AMD cards put less strain on your CPU compared to Nvidia cards, making them sometimes 20-30% faster in CPU bound situations.

All that to say, I think both cards are viable choices - they both give you the 24GB of VRAM necessary to turn up textures to the max - but if you can afford the 4090, I think it will provide you with a more meaningful upgrade at 4K in terms of performance, unless your CPU is weaker than a 5700X or 11700K, in which case, you'll almost certainly be CPU limited and then the 7900XTX may be better until you get a CPU upgrade.

I didn't really use raytracing while having 3080 since day one, idea of getting less performance for prettier shadows or reflections is no use. I wanted RX 6800 XT originally however when it arrived to Lithuania it cost 1700eur retail. So waiting wasn't an option. If i had AMD gpu i wouldn't ask for advices what should i do with 3080. Also differences comparing FSR2 and DLSS is so small. Seen hub video, Tim saying ogh DLSS is noticibly better, i would say lmao, while playing at high resolution and not pixel peeping they look the same. I even prefer FSR2 over DLSS in many games. Also AMD is constantly improving with drivers nowadays 6800 xt is atleast 10% faster in new games and much smoother due to 16gb vram buffer compared to our old 3080 10gb.

Tadziunia reacted to Stahlmann in RTX 3080 10gb upgrade suggestions?
First off, when your GPU useage drops, the GPU is not the bottleneck. Low GPU useage means it's waiting for something else in the chain. Since it only happens after some time passes, my bet would be RAM. If the GPU or CPU don't perform to spec, you'd notice that instantly.

Second, imo the 3080 10G is still an insanely fast GPU. I have one myself and can play everything i want at or close to max settings. If it can't do ultra, i enable DLSS. If that's still not enough, i just drop down to high. Typically i don't bother will all the little options in the graphics settings. In both cases you're not missing out on much.

If i were to upgrade from a 3080, anything less than a 4090 is too little of a jump to convince me. I also hate that Nvidia made a high-end GPU with 10GB of VRAM. At the time of it's release there was no game that needed more. However, now there are some titles. Luckily i haven't run into a VRAM limitation yet with the games i play and i don't have a problem dropping to high settings.

    Hi bro 🙂
Pardon me to call you bro, that's because I also got a 3080 10GB by Q1 21, was the Gigabyte Eagle model, had no choice neither, paid 1200EUR in Europe as well (France), and use 3440x1440 too ! 🙂
Also had to change thermals pads, but as it still was way too loud and I eventually watercooled it by mid 21
Worked like a champ since (with a 360 rad it was max 60C, and quiet..) but I couldn't do anything about the small VRAM issue, irritating stutters in many games, so ended up upgrading to a 7900XTX last week ! 🙂
I didn't really consider 4090 not only for the huge price jump, but also because it'll bottleneck my 5900X, so choice was between 4080 and 7900XTX
Really I chose AMD mostly because NVidia are evil hyenas, I didn't want to pay them again for the planned obsolescence they put in the 3080🤬 (they even tried it again with the "4080 12GB"...)
Now 7900XTX is nice, super performing in rasterization, enough VRAM for the next 5 years 🙂, but you got same perf in RT on a 7900XTX than a 3080...No DLSS neither, FSR seems worse (but I didn't use it yet)
The Adrenalin software is also quite nice, putting to shame the crap NVidia stuff that relies on a now unpaid Russian guy that did Afterburner all by himself 😞
AMD cards can't do Stable diffusion neither atm (unless you do a lot of tweaking), I had fun with that, but I'm sure it'll be soon compatible
Overall unless you really want good RT and DLSS I'd say go red, no need to spend 600 bucks more for a 4090 !
