LG C3 now or C4 in few months ?

Tadziunia

Hey guys, does it worth waiting for C4 maybe next month or should i get C3 ? never had Oled and last TV i bought was generic LG 65inch tv for 600$ 5 years ago with terrible viewing angles and all IPS panel issues like gray image, poor local dimming and ips glow, also it was hanged to high on the wall and never adjusted again. I gave away it to my parents and now it hanged correctly and they usually watch news, so its far better than anything they had before. So i am looking at LG C3 55inch, however google says that maybe on march or april C4 will be released. However i noticed that now C3 is kinda discounted it was 1799$ now it's 1299$ so basically 500$ off, whats the odds that C4 will be cheaper than C3 msrp ?

I have the C3 55" for a few months and I am pretty happy with it. I don't really know what you're looking for in a TV but if you have questions, i'd answer happily.
On a side note, I really don't think the C4 will be cheaper than C3 msrp, especially around launch.

So you think C3 is great option considering it's cheaper now? do you think it might get even cheaper when C4 launches? it's really hard to guess, since who knows LG might lower MSRP to be competitive. I am not in the rush since my room is under construction, still waiting for door and floor and radiators to arrive. I guess we shall see later. Do you have any issues with your C3 what would you recommend to configure for new user ?

The differences between OLED models are pretty minor tbh. Imo after the C9 in 2019 there haven't been many significant changes in their C-series mid-range lineup. They're a bit brighter, but that's about it.

To get the best deal I'd wait for the new C4 to be released. Either it's significantly better than the C3 or you can get the C3 at a significant discount when they're clearing out stock. Historically LG has always been very aggressive with discounts on their TVs, especially last-gen models once the new ones are out. For example the 42" C3 launched with a $1200 MSRP or something in that range, but when it launched you could often buy the last-gen C2 for $800 or less.

I have a C9 (55" in my living room) and a C2 (42" as my monitor) and both are great for my use case.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

I could give 5 shi*s about going from 120hertz to 144hertz. My C2 48in does the job and then some. I'll wait until they get to over 200hertz for me to upgrade. 24hertz increase and buy an entire new TV when my C2 works fine? Ummm, no.

as mentioned above not many changes in 5 years.

I went with the LG B2 as its the best bang for the buck, it doesnt have 4 2.1 ports but it does have 120hz gsync on 2. I would save a buck or two and go with the B2/B3/B4 it offers all of the same things its just that the C series does get a bit brighter and has better gradient handling but that doesn't say much when it is so minor. after reading on rtings.com I noticed in some senerios the B2 gets brighter than the c2 in different windows of brightness. when you read comparisons its best case senario and in real world usage you just wont notice it unless they are side by side.

its also worth noting the B2 has better color coverage than the c2, but its so minor its basically nihl difference

Basically they are no big changes in OLED.

I have C9 purchase in year 2020, I think release in 2019 if not mistaken.

I also recently purchased OLED Flex in year 2023 which similar as C2. From release year, it is around 4 years differences.

Result Yes the OLED Flex is ahead better than C9 especially on the brightness side only, but it is not a wow factor, the C9 still look pretty great and better than many display in the market.

If you want save some cost, buy the model a year before, for example purchase the C3 when C4 is out, but need to be quick as it is last stock availability.
