Ethernet reacted to LAwLz in Crypto Miners buying up entire power plants
Yes but hydro dams are some of the cleanest alternatives we got.
All power sources have some drawback. Solar panels create "heat islands" which disturbs things like the wildlife nearby, they take up a lot of space which means installation might result in habitat loss and other ecological damage. Manufacturing has its own issues (like costing a lot and doing damage), and they need to be replaced.

Wind creates a lot of noise pollution which disturbs wildlife, requires a ton of area as well which is not available everywhere.

Hydro dams, like you said, can affect wildlife where they are installed although that (like solar panels) depends on where they are installed.

We have to pick our battles. Personally, I'd love for nuclear power to become more popular and attract more investments and research, but if I can't get that then I'll be happier with hydro than let's say coal.

The power plant the article talks about is old and abandoned. This is not some cryptominer "taking" renewable energy from some other industry.
The result of these news is that we have MORE renewable energy in the world.

Oh cool. More fossil fuel power plants being powered back on just for the sake of mining virtual currency that people decided to attribute value to. Just what the world needed.

Ethernet got a reaction from Ben17 in Internal USB 3.1 Gen 2 (male) to PCIe card?
I can verify that this card does indeed work. My brother has a USB-C Type 2 header for the front of the case and his motherboard doesn't have the internal header. So I got him this and it works.

yeah but there are already benchmarks done by amd showing that the 8 core at 3.4ghz is competitive with the 6900k. there could be some cherry picking going on for that test but it should give a ballpark idea of the kind of performance they will have.

I'm happy that the community gave them enough backlash for them to back pedal. But Ark did not even acknowledge what they did. What worse is they did get a nomination too. I would like steam to remove that since, really, Ark did not earn that in earnest IMO. I hope other devs wont think maybe they can get away with it.

I've just never witnessed anything like this before. I've seen and complained about garbage news over the past few years, but this is just unbelievable.

Craig Murray said it, in fact he said he received a USB drive directly from the source he actually met him one on one near a college Campus and that's how he proceeded to feed it to wikileaks.

Ethernet got a reaction from TidaLWaveZ in Putin directly involved with US Hack
I can't remember who it was, but they were associated with Wikileaks, but he said that they can't comment on the source of the DNC leaks due to their strict policy on info about a source, but they said it wasn't Russia and it was a leak, not hack. Meaning it was someone inside that did it.

My point is prove it, find a culprit, and track the money. If you can't do that you can't prove that putin knew shit, and cbs knows about as much as my mother.

I was effected by this and I am in the UK. Had £120 taken out of my bank account and two sub accounts attached to my master account which used my debit card to purchase FIFA points.

Called Sony they refunded me (said it was my fault in the process, my ass it is). But to top it all off they banned my account until I complained and they unbanned my account and apologised. They then invalidated the two sub accounts and requested them to be banned. Got a call of them today to tell me that they've banned the two sub accounts.

    What a nightmare.
