Then like 16GB AT LEAST for a very good experience.  He could get away with 8GB too, but Chrome is a memory hog, it eats it up like I eat up pizza...

Intel if you plan on maybe using it for steam streaming in the future but AMD has 4 cores and a decent integrated GPU so it would be more efficient in other tasks such as AutoCAD. AMD would be a bit more expensive so there is that too.

SSDs only really generate geat when excessively writing (which isn't often on a boot drive) and also, they can withstand heat. You can put an SSD anywhere in a system and you won't need to worry about it overheating.

    You friends are very mistaken.

It's fine   If you're going to be transporting your system I suggest you mount it more securely or in a hard drive cage.

I have the exact GPU and no you cannot change the voltage on it, not sure what your problems are though, I am running all my games very nicely especially BF4 I can run Ultra 60+ if I heavily overclock my GPU which I do do for BF4. if you are going to roll back, use DriverSweeper to completely rid of any files of your Drivers before you install new ones, I had some problems because some files from the old drivers I had stayed and conflicted with my new drivers had horrible GPU usage, I just uninstalled using DriverSweeper making sure I ticked the box to remove any files and then let it do its thing and finally put some new drivers in. GPU works like a charm love DriverSweeper.

I would recommend the NZXT Kraken X60. It's a 280MM rad that has more performance then the Corsair h100i. I own it and have no problems with it.

I know i looked that up but your Gtx 680  will sell for something between 150$ and 200$. If we take the average which is 175$ and convert that into MYK it's around :550 MYR a Gtx 780 will run you about 2000 MYK so you should have to pay 1450 MYK to get an 780. And then 1700 MYK - 1450 MYK = 250 MYK= 80$. If you get yourself an GTX 780 over another gtx 680 you will save 80$. And lose around 20-40% performance  (780: 130% Dual 680: 150- 170% depending on the drivers and the games)

A loop will cost you way more than a second card. So if you're onyl going for long life then you might as well buy a second card when the first one dies. By then you will be able to by a better card for the same price as well.

You can but it's not common to mount radiators outside the PC. Koolance make an adapter for it though: http://koolance.com/radiator-mounting-bracket-with-quick-release

sze_nian reacted to Complx in [BUILD COMPLETE] VX-42 (Custom Wall Mounted Home Server)
Hey everyone, I can't believe I didn't post this on here earlier.

This was my first custom case built from scratch, so I thought I would share.  Im always looking for feedback to help improve my designs.  Sadly I have already completed the project and therefore don't have any way of making a proper build log style updates.

But I made sure to take plenty of pictures of the build which can be found here:  http://imgur.com/a/tnKTh

The premise behind this project was the need for a large amount of storage of various pieces of digital media. (3+TB or more) I have been wanting to build my own home media server for sometime and finally found an excuse to build one. I wanted to be able to stream media to my various mobile devices and run an FTP server, plus since im a gamer, I wanted to be able to host game servers for my buddies and I to play on as well.

My biggest problem was space. My desk was cluttered enough as it was and I didn't have anywhere to put it, even the small ITX cases were too big. That's when I started browsing online for inspiration and thats when it hit me to put it on the wall.

These first few pictures of the completed build I used a piece of smoked acrylic as the base for are the hardware, however, I didn't like it as much as I thought, so I replaced it with a custom cut piece of anodized aluminum.

I got the it up on the wall in its permanent location along with the rest of my computers.  For those of you who have been following my other thread, this came before I built my monitor stand.

I love the back lighting it provides

Hope you enjoyed viewing this project with took many months to complete, if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

sze_nian reacted to UberPCman in My opinion on the proper way to convert console players to PC players..
Hey guys I use to be a console player that was the ignorant type that would say things like: "Optimization makes consoles have better graphics, I don't have to upgrade every 3 years to play the latest games, don't have to worry about computer problems", and so forth. Well, I now realize today that I did not know what the hell I was talking about. I use to be a PS3/Xbox360 guy, but my PC friend got me into PC gaming by letting me play games likes BF3, Crysis 3, Witcher 2, and Dark Souls on his PC. Man, I was blown away!! Not only that, he then showed me the graphics settings, and all of them were set to low spec!! Even at low spec, the graphics where stunning and the draw distances in games like Battlefield 3 was amazing versus what my console could do.
So, I just wanted to say why it took me so long to get over my ignorance. You see, I was going to build a PC in the past and asked people on PC forums what hardware would be enough for PC gaming that I selected. Well, many of them would say my selection would lead to only slow frame rates at this setting or this setting, and they said it would need upgrading real soon and that I should buy more expensive parts to get good game play. Everyone was then arguing about this is not correct or that won't be good enough for his build with each other. In the end I had everyone's opinions, but no definitive answers. This is what put me off on wanting to build a gaming PC. I felt it was too much trouble.
But then my PC gamer friend then made me realized something: that these guys did not take into account that I was a console gamer, and console gamers are use to what we call "good graphics" on consoles and not what's on PC's and the majority of PC guys make mistake the of picking under-powered processors for their video cards. Like Core i3's expecting to run HD7970's. LOL. This means that what looks terrible to a PC gamer at low settings in game, will look like next gen epicness to a console gamer like me. He explained to me that the processor should be adequate enough to not bottleneck future video cards that are at least at the HD7870 or GTX670 level for 1920X1080P resolution if I wanted to go up in graphics detail someday, but not have pay out the butt for something like HD7970's or GTX680's as they are overkill. He said the new players in the PC world make the mistake of picking an under performing processor and then they wonder why they get marginal FPS increase when they buy a high end card, which in turn means they have to spend money on a processor upgrade too. This is where the upgrade the PC every so often myth came from because of people buying under powered processors for their builds. Finally, he told me that since I am coming from a console, that the HD7790 is the perfect choice for a budget build that will allow better graphics then consoles and still be playable at low settings, but at 1920X1080P resolution versus the consoles' 720P.
So I did lots of research and asked my PC friend about the processor I picked, and built the following PC:

ASRock B75M-ITX Motherboard Intel Core i5-3350P SeaSonic M12II 520 Bronze 520Watt powersupply Radeon HD 7790 Intel 520 Series Cherryville SSDSC2CW060A3K5 2.5" 60GB SATA III SSD for OS Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 500GB 7200 RPM HDD for storage COOLER MASTER Elite 120 ITX Tower Computer Case Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit LG Black 12X BD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM Model UH12NS29 Kingston KVR1333D3N9K2/8G 2X4GB DDR3-1333 RAM 8GB total Input devices

Logitech G500 Mouse Xbox 360 controller from console that I sold Microsoft Keyboard 200 6JH-00001 Black USB Wired XTRAC PADS Fat Mat Mouse Pad Display

My 42" LG HD 1080P TV that was once used for consoles... So far I've had no problems with my PC and I can even play many games on Medium settings with the HD7790 which kind of surprising. So, I think in the future that the best way to get console guys over to PC is to show them what a PC can do at low settings vs a console. It really helps convince them to switch over I think. Well I am glad I joined the PC gaming crowd finally, and I can't wait to see what games will come next for PC. I especially like Steam!!! Consoles could use something like this service. It is crazy how you can buy many games in bundle for like $10. That is just crazy.
