How much ram do i need?

Helping out a friend on a budget build and his requirement is quite simple. He want fast respond. Then i get known that he always open 100 tabs or more in google chrome. So i wondering how much ram he need for his rig. Or any other thing also will influence?

spec:
i7-4770
Asus Vanguard B85

Kingston Hyper X Genesis 1600MHz 4GB x2 (he still thinking want to put 8gb or 16gb)

Corsair vs550w (maybe overkill by looking at spec above cause havent include gpu yet)

he using back his hdd which i dunno is what brand n speeds. so going 16gb + hdd is better for his task or 8GB + intel 530series 120GB SSD will smoothen his experience.

My 2013 First Build

100 tabs?!?!

Then like 16GB AT LEAST for a very good experience.  He could get away with 8GB too, but Chrome is a memory hog, it eats it up like I eat up pizza...

Yeah. 100tabs or more. basically he still a student, doing alot of research works. so he want to have best experience switching between tabs. thats why he went up with i7 n so much ram. if not i wound basically recommend him saving up n get i5 and add on a decent gpu or ssd. 8gb will serve him well or normal only?
