deadher0 got a reaction from Aytex in [Pretty much solved] Brown-ish vape PG/VG gunk in my open loop?
I put this custom loop together for my wife.  We've done quite a few loops in our shop, but this is the first one that will be in my home.  So, long story short:  My wife and I vape a lot.  Like, a lot.  We make our own juice so the clouds never end in our room.

This gunk is after 1 month.  I brought it to my shop because I'm redoing reservoir positioning and redoing some bends and fitting placement. We built this machine out of spare parts I had laying around the shop, so don't be to critical of it..   Then I saw this vape VG/PG gunk in my reservoir.  I will be doing a flush today.  God only knows what's already in my blocks and rads.   Understand that it wasn't until this loop was built that I discovered a critical design flaw, the reservoir placement.  I think the reason we are seeing this is because that reservoir has been sucking air every now and then because of it's position.  It seems this pump/res needs to be straight up and down to operate at a higher RPM otherwise it's sucking / expelling air and the loop never properly pressurizes.  This is why I am fixing this today... but when I started THIS is what I saw D:

My question:  Any thoughts on this?  It may be unsightly, but is it REALLY a problem?  Understand that this build was built for practicality.  We don't have a side window for it or anything so if it's NOT a big deal we'll continue business as usual.  We did it together for fun cuz thats what good married couples do

I theorize that after a good flush and proper reservoir/pump placement this issue should be resolved.  Thoughts?

It seems everyone on the internet has an opinion on how to do the Kraken G10 mod.  For $50 at my shop, I take people's GPUs and do this affordable mod to help my (local) client's computers be quieter and cooler, easy peasy  (We live in AZ, it's hot and dirty here).  This time around, I decided to make a post somewhere on the internet of me doing one of these mods on my personal GPU, my EVGA 1080ti.  The LTT forums seem forgiving enough so hopefully you guys dig it!

These are all the photos I took of the process I went through to get the 1080ti cooled.  The parts I used was a Kraken G10, and a Kraken X31 to make the mod. I also outfitted the radiator and bracket with Noctua fans, replacing the NZXT fans it came with.

I always do my personal GPUs differently than I do my clients (I over-protect/over-build their cards while I'm a little less picky about my cards.  Don't crucify me if you see something questionable.  Be nice, I'm squishy.)  Different than how I did my 1080 FE hybrid mod, my 1080ti was definetly gonna get some extra love on the VRMs and VRAM. I always get heatsinks to help cool the VRM and the GDDR5 memory chips themselves. I didn't cool the mosfets due to the questionable thermal tape-stuff on the tiny heatsinks I bought just for those. I will go back and and actually use some thermal adhesive to make them a permanent fixture to the chips on the PCB, but that comes with other problems (like selling my personal 1080i to someone who doesn't want the Kraken bracket attached.  I always buy the latest and greatest and sell it the second the next thing comes out.)

All in all I'm super happy with the outcome. The GPU itself runs frosty and my overclocks seem to be holding after a week-ish of testing. Not to mention the thing is whisper quiet.

If you have any questions, please ask!  I work a lot so I may not reply right away, but I'll try.  Please understand that I'm an enthusiast that loves helping Grandma with malware and kids with their custom loops...  I run a simple computer repair shop in a smaller town.  I don't know everything... but I try to hire the right people that fill in "knowledge gaps".  I'm influenced by modern tech-tubers and love what I do... I'm not perfect but we try really hard to make people happy with their tech.

I have deal with the FBI warning ransomeware you mention and is nothing like the file encrypting ransomewares that are attacking now, the one you saw only puts a screen warning when you boot and doesn't let you work on the PC, but all your files are still there, and yes, all you had to do was delete the virus and everything came back to normal.

The new ones encrypt all the personal files in a PC, and there is no way to recover them yet.  I have seen this virus once already, that came through an email on a company's PC, I have the HDD right here, with all the encrypted files in case someone ever finds a way to decrypt them..

Okay, I don't post much, but I felt this thread needed more positive input. I am having a hard time believing all the garbage @linustech and his team are taking for this, the arguments in this thread are enough to make my eyes bleed.

I've been watching since the NCIX days and the quality of the content has always been increasing. With this newest expansion to the new office it is obvious that LMG has been experiencing growing pains. I'm pretty sure that is part of life when you are growing a company, you make good choices, bad choices, you learn and move on.

Linus and crew have done an excellent job moving and expanding their business. They deserve support from their community which has, for the most part, recieved a free edutainment experience for the better part of the last half of the decade.

I mean 3 dollars. That is not much money guys. Anyways, Linus. Thank you for your content. The work you put in is obvious. It's obvious you care about your viewers, and I for one will continue watching and enjoying the results of the hard work of LMG. You are all awesome.

What gets me is this continued cycle of abuse Americans perpetuate: All of them seem to have real fucking shitty jobs, terrible working conditions, pitiful hours to avoid generating benefits, etc. Yet all of them at the same time want ultra fast internet for 19 bucks per month unlimited, cheapest cellphone plans available, their food to be served instantly 3 minutes after ordering, etc. Otherwise they keep bitching about it and abusing employees just so they can go off to work and be abused themselves.

A lot of this would be infinitely better if people were not such entitled assholes creating such unrealistic expectations for companies to fulfill and hence getting their workers a bit of a break. But the same guy that bitches about his 12 hour shift then calls customer support to bitch about his internet being cut off and acts offended when told you haven't paid your fucking bill in 2 months what did you expect, an award?
