Recently for me, Chrome has only been showing the top 4 most visited sites for me, instead of 8 like it was a few days ago. Instead at the bottom, rather than 4 links to sites, I get an invite to view something about black history which I don't really care about. Anyone have a fix?

Sephiroth got a reaction from Blademaster91 in Rhode Island Representative calls for "special tax" on video games....
Not sure it's going to be allowed to pass; Massachusetts is facing problems trying to impose an additional tax on incomes over $1,000,000.00 to be used for education and transportation, but that's facing opposition because it's not exactly legal to pre-allocate funds of specific taxes for a specific purpose (e.g. you also couldn't do a 10% tax on sugar and say revenue from the tax would be used to fund public health). Of course, it also could simply be that those affected by the proposed Mass law definitely have the access to and ability to hire the best lawyers to fight said tax, and this might not face such opposition in Rhode Island. Just an interesting thing to note.

Sephiroth got a reaction from sazrocks in Intel VROC now only available in hardware bundles; removes limitations on different RAID configurations
This news is a few days old, however I've not seen it posted here yet and it's kinda worth while to talk about. The article comes from PC World and brings both good and bad news (https://www.pcworld.com/article/3234669/storage/intel-says-vroc-raid-isnt-dead-its-just-trapped-in-a-hardware-bundle.html). Let's start off with the bad: Intel will no longer be selling those VROC keys to consumers. If you want one, you need to buy it bundled with Intel SSDs or X299 motherboards.

This is pretty shitty on Intel's part on a feature they've already managed to fuck up way more than I expected. This is especially true if any of you purchased your X299 PCs with the intent of making use of this feature, and already purchased 3rd party SSDs (Samsung 960 Pros being a likely choice for many, as Intel isn't really top quality in the SSD space yet, though it's possible the brand new optane SSDs change this). Hopefully board manufacturers won't make it too costly to obtain one of these, but depending on the board/system manufacturer you selected, you might not even be able to get one now. Also, I think it goes without saying that if you wanted to set up RAID directly off the CPU's PCIe lanes, and you don't require X299 specifically, AMD is your best bet as you won't need an add-in hardware key AND you won't be limited to a small subset of approved NVME SSDs.

Fortunately, there was one nugget of good news
So yeah, if you end up choosing Intel and obtaining a VROC key, at least you don't need to pay more to set up more secure RAID configurations. For now....

The problem with the "Right to repair bill" is that it does not actually protect your right to repair your own device because you will always have that right. What it does is force OEMs like Apple or Microsoft to sell repair shops components so that they can get free buisness. And I don't like that.

Sephiroth got a reaction from Tech_Dreamer in New COD WW2 "leaked"
Yes, another Call of Duty (lul). I've not seen anything on the website yet, but mods please remove if repost/posted in wrong section. There are a few articles up on the net now, most from the past day since this post was made. I'm using the pcgamer article because it's pretty short, but the almighty google is available to anyone who needs more info: http://www.pcgamer.com/call-of-duty-wwiis-first-images-leak-include-a-guy-with-a-gun/

"Activision announced Call of Duty: WWII with nothing but an image of a lone soldier. The company's plan was to make the actual big reveal on April 26, but for a short period of time, people could get a look at three separate, very small images of the upcoming first-person shooter....Call of Duty: WWII's reveal is set for April 26 at 10 AM PT. There's no word on what will be shown, but if history is any indicator, we'll likely get a trailer that highlights the campaign. We do know is that Sledgehammer Games is developing it, and as someone who really enjoyed Advanced Warfare, the studio's previous game, I'm interested in seeing what the developer do with World War II. We'll keep you updated as information is revealed, willingly or unwillingly."

I'm actually pretty excited for a new CoD with the classic WWII setting. I haven't purchased a CoD in years, since MW2 (and even that was a bit of a letdown personally), so I'm hoping they can go back more closely to the classic game I used to play in LAN parties as a kid. No bullshit kill-streak drops/bonuses, a phenomenal campaign, and excellent multiplayer. Oh, and it looks like sledgehammer, not infinityward, will be developing this title. Hopefully they don't completely bung it up.

As leadeater said, Hirens is always one thing I keep on a USB on my keys or a disc avaliable for me to you. I also like SpaceSniffer as a graphical view of all the space being used on machines is so much easier than looking around folders and subfolders to reclaim space, even proving to users when their 128GB SSD Machine runs out of space and they have 20GB+ of photos and videos on company machines  A copy of Ninite with the basic runtimes, Rogue Killer and TDSS Killer helps with Virus Scanning (Combo Fix as a download) produkey and the GodMode for Windows (All Control Panel options).

Probably a few more that I use but I don't have my Tech USB with me

To summarize, Harvard University scientists, using a pressure greater than what is found at the center of the earth, found a way to turn liquid hydrogen into a solid metal. The implications are potentially revolutionary for everything from electric wiring (solid hydrogen is a superconductor) to space travel (the energy capacity would make it the most effective rocket fuel available). The catch--as there always is one--is that the metal is not yet metastable in the experiments, meaning that when the pressure is removed from it and it warms up, the solid hydrogen reverts into a liquid and then a gas. Theoretically, metastable solid hydrogen is possible, and would be essentially due to the same reason that carbon forms diamonds that do not revert to their original state after experiencing immense pressure and extreme temperature. In practice... well, it'll likely take some time.

I gotta say, I'm no expert (I just enjoy the science-y videos), but it doesn't take a genius to recognize the milestone that would be a room temperature superconductor. I just hope that, when it does become possible, Samsung doesn't use it in their phones since they explode enough as it is already.

This ruling is completely unjust, if someone doesn't like Uber's business practice then don't work for them. It's really that simple. Don't work for a company then complain about how much they are paying you, if you don't like it get another job. Stop with this entitlement bullshit.
