Electric Orange [Completed with Final Photo's]

Hanoverfist

So, some Back story on the Build.  Originally I had planned out 2 7950's and Heatkiller Blocks.  But i didn't check closely enough on the Model #

of the MSI cards and Wouldn't you know it.. The Blocks didnt fit.  DOH!  Got some great pics of that Mistake..

It's really bad to paint fans like that...
You're basically unbalancing the blade's weight distribution, which will reduce performance and cause vibrations which means more noise.
You should either buy orange fans, or dye the plastic, but never paint.

I love it. Really reminds me of my time in the USA. A friend of mine was building a MOPAR Trans Am.

Colour is just gorgeous. Orange and black are just a match made in heaven.

It's really bad to paint fans like that...

You're basically unbalancing the blade's weight distribution, which will reduce performance and cause vibrations which means more noise.

You should either buy orange fans, or dye the plastic, but never paint.

Gentle Typhoons have double ball bearings, they are much more robust than

FD bearings and are very much less susceptible to this problem. If you have

a look around you will find many people who have painted their GT's, they

seem to work quite well despite that. Years ago I painted some Papst fans

myself. They have sleeve bearings, but they're basically industrial fans,

so they are extremely robust as well and worked without any problems for

many years.

Painting fan impellers can cause problems, and I have read of several people

who have actually experienced those, but it's not a given. As long as you're

willing to give it a shot and aren't afraid to maybe replace a fan or so

if there are indeed problems at some point down the line I see nothing wrong

with it. It's all about making informed decisions and being aware of possible

outcomes.

this is fantastic!, im sure you spendt just as much time taking pictures as you spendt building this :P, well with the ammount of time you have spendt on this, the time spendt on pictures probably seem trivial in comparison.
