Your First Ever GPU? - Stories

IReallyShouldBeWorking

I'm on your side I just grabbed the 970 to replace my old 760 because that thing had baddd coil whine and driver issues like no tomorrow so it was essentially a brick. But I will happily pawn this 970 off in favor of a newer card when the time comes.

poor 760 D: I'm really wondering what will happen as soon as the next gen arrives. I think the 2nd hand market will explode because a lot of us are waiting for DX12 and FINALLY a decent improvement...

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

At this point I have no idea what lies ahead and it seems like they might as well release a newer titan as the line up seeing how the 980 is essentially that. However if someone wants to bank on dx11 support and grab a few 2nd hand cards then that wouldn't be a bad idea.

I'm Probably at work so expect a reply either really fast or really slow :D

Radeon HD 4550. My previous (whatever it was) broke, so I had to get something to replace it..... still rocking solid on my Pentium E2180, in fact is the one I'm using to write this very post right now.

Also had a 6670 and recently grabbed a Gtx 970, but that's on another system. #(not)Paciently waiting for pascal before upgrading my 970.

For the life of me I can't remember the exact model. It was too long ago.

It was before 2001. It was an ATI card. It had maybe 16Mb of video memory. 32Mb at most. (Man I feel like an old timer).

I bought that card to play a game with graphics no more complex than the original Diablo.

Likely a Rage Pro or Rage 128. Great cards.

First video card of my own was a very expensive Nvidia TNT2 Ultra 32mb, pre g-force here. Had VIVO and 3d glasses which were a bit gimmicky.

First PC setup that I used that made me want to game on PC was an ATI Rage Pro 8mb.
