Half-Life 3 Campaign Released!

deadaccount69

Ok, I am just gonna come right out and say the title is completely bull. There is a Half-Life 3 campaign released. An Indiegogo campaign. Someone has created an Indiegogo campaign to advertise how many people want Half-Life 3. Basically,(if they raise the funds) they will be making vehicle billboards, tshirts, GabeN(wearing a "we want Half-Life 3 tshirt) figurines to leave on valve headquarters' doorstep, and an adwords campaign.

As of posting this topic, they have raised $1,457 out of $150,000. I think it is stupid. But what do you think?

What an absurd idea.

Some say pre-ordering's a dumb idea.
Some say crowd-funding is foolish
How many will say paying for the marketing of an unannounced game's absurd?

I don't get the point in doing this campaign. It won't achieve anything. Valve knows exactly how much people want Half-Life 3 but they'll make/release it whenever THEY feel like it, not when we ask/expect it. Valve doesn't do what other devs do and push out game after game because that's what the consumer expects. That's why these AAA titles have become so bad in my opinion, it's not about making a good game, but instead about releasing anything as part of a cycle because that's what the consumer is used to. I'd prefer to wait and get something special that I'll enjoy rather than get some nonsense to tie me over. I hope this campaign fails.

Let's be honest, Valve doesn't need this to know how popular the series is. This just feels like a way to make money off the series/someone else's work.

I wouldn't fund it.

Yes! Let's hype a game EVEN MORE that way you can all be severely disappointed with it when it releases. Excellent thinking guys.

Half-Life 3 is so hyped and delayed for so long, that no matter how good it'd be, it will never be able to live up for the hype. So basically, the hype killed HL3.

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

I can honestly say that hype doesn't really affect my expectations. I would honestly be happy with plain old half life 2, except continuing the story line and giving more info about the gman to wrap it all together.

Stupid but funny! I would totally fund this and participate in this!

before you fund it, remember that this is a flexible campaign meaning that even if they fail, they still keep all the money raised. so you wont get your cash back.

Who knows if valve is even making it? Maybe Big Foot and the Loch Ness monster are playing it right now.

It's because of a campaign like this and other BS that Valve should not release HL3. Let the spoiled brats stay thirsty.

It's a scam. They want what others want but want to get paid just for wanting it too because there is no way a group of whiny douchebags can sway Gaben into giving them something as if he owes it to them.

Sense of entitlement in gamers nowadays is only surpassed by their desire to shit something down that hasn't reached the unrealistic hype they built up through their own fault.

This is LTT. One cannot force "style over substance" values & agenda on people that actually aren't afraid to pop the lid off their electronic devices, which happens to be the most common denominator of this community. Rather than take shots at this community in every post, why not seek out like-minded individuals elsewhere?

Thinking that Valve somehow doesn't know how much people want HL3 is like thinking that people don't think they need to breath air to survive. It's retarded and a waste of money, I would fully support the decision to never release HL3 and I hope that Valve makes that decision but never announces it so people keep hoping and hoping only to have the realization one day that it's never coming and their dreams get crushed. Then on that day...I will fap...I will fap and think about all of the tears of rage streaming down the faces of the fans and I will enjoy it thoroughly and then I shall eat pie and watch Spongebob Squarepants.
