Memory isn't technically limited by the CPU, but by the chip-set (if I remember correctly). ASUS could have tweaked the microcode to allow for more than 64Gb of memory to be correctly addressed.

The deluxe and rampage back boards recently got a new bios update that now supports 128GB of ECC memory. I'm excited about this because I am a deluxe board owner :D

Whole steam library? do you have like 10 games or something

That was a bit of an exaggeration I suppose. But still, you could load a fair few games to the RAM if you wanted to.

I believe that in this particular case, a microcode update could have been pushed by ASUS, which explains why the update was delivered via a beta bios update. Although this wouldn't be officially supported by Intel.

In the past, ASUS has been known to tweak chipset firmware and microcode via bios updates.

ASUS has been working closly with Intel and IM to make this happen. I would assume that means Intel officially supports ASUS in this.

I guess this means i can have even more chrome tabs.

EDIT: it would not supprise me one bit if the timings on the 16gb dimms are absolutely disgusting.

Desktop -  i5 4670k, GTX 770, Maximums VI Hero, 2X Kingston Hyper X 3k in raid zero.

Laptop - Lenovo X230 Intel 535 480GB, 16GB Gskill memory, Classic Keyboard Mod, Triple USB 3.0 Express Card.
