Possible Youtube Crash Reason

TL:DR: Markiplier made a video accusing the crash 2 weeks back of being due to a code change as they prepare to get rid of Google+

Since it's from a video I can't copy and paste quotes, but the gist is that in preparation for the death of Google+, Google issued a update to the code which backfired and somehow caused the crash. This alone makes sense timing wise. What he then goes on to talk about is how google pushed google+ on developers to the point where it is so ingrained in the code, that they aren't really sure how to separate it back out. There's really not much to say about it other than I fully believe his theory. Youtube has never really crashed before, and I find it hard to believe after all these years that some unknown bug crashed the global beast. 

Insanity is not the absence of sanity, but the willingness to ignore it for a purpose. Chaos is the result of this choice. I relish in both.

No, don't think so. It was probably more hardware, DNS related

Around that time, there was a huge Internet attack from Saudi Arabia, they misconfigured internet routers (maybe on purpose) and they propagated bad data worldwide which caused other big internet routers to send bad data and so ... took a few hours for routers around the world to blacklist and block the bad data flow and reset internet routes and all that.

Yeah I saw something like that too. Youtube devs don't just forget how they implemented things. Also mariplier is the least trustworthy person for news

Funny part is Youtube never went down for me which still makes me think this was regional.  Then again I know it's common for people to block their providers local caches and in many cases rightfully so.  Those nodes are usually on dedicate infrastructure however.

YouTube, like most big tech companies, likely release minor updates very regularly (I would imagine that YT is formed of a large number of microservices which are each updated at least monthly, with many being updated significantly more frequently than that, potentially daily, because continuous integration normally means that's fine). It could be G+, but it could also be any number of other minor changes that they routinely make.
