Well it's certainly not that. In order to get decent prices on computer components you have to buy in bulk. If you're trying to find a way of making money, and don't have investment capital, starting a business is a poor decision. Save up a little, and buy computers in your local area around the end of the month; people get desperate when their rent is due. Then part them out.

If you start selling online, especially eBay, you have to account for things like:

  • Cost of traveling to the post office
  • Packing materials
  • The percentage eBay takes
  • Paypal fees

If you're operating on Craigslist, and you're a kid, you're not going to get much business either. Sad fact is most people won't trust you with their money.

no copyright, i just wanna go on ebay or letgo / mercari / craigslist and build customized computers to fit the customers needs.. but where do i start? i already know how to build computers and where to buy the parts (plus how to set up configurations for different purposes) but how do i get customers? do i just set up my page and hope for the best?

You don't. You realize it's a bad idea, and stop before you invest the money required.

Tbh if you aren't sure how to do it then you probably shouldn't because it's pretty competitive in the custom pc building space. Most places that are worth buying from have professionals and warrantee services that add enough value to justify the extra cost.

It won't make you any money, unless you overcharge people and basically scam them.

There are already large companies that sell prebuilt systems and they get discounts on the components because they buy bulk orders of thousands of parts allowing them to put prices on par or lower than what a person can buy from a store.

Like everyone else has said to start a business you need capital to begin with, the only way you would get the capital needed is by getting a loan but then you have to put down something you own as basically insurance to the bank as if you don't pay then they will take it away.
