Do not buy the iPhone XR..if you are coming from a phone with a higher res screen

That’s why the resolution on the iPhone XR bugs me considering the price of the phone. It has to look premium. And yet the Apple sympathizers on the internet keep justifying the 326 ppi ratio on the XR and how Apple always uses the best LCD panels with the most accurate colours. But it’s like saying that a brand new $50k sports car should only have 90 horsepower because you can only drive the speed limit anyways. And you wouldn’t be wrong! 

 

But the typical Apple consumer doesn’t care about specs or hardware. The typical Apple consumer loves iOS as much as they loathe Android (for good reasons: ugly interface, lack of updates, so many bad apps in the play store, bloatware,  sluggishness). The typical Apple consumer loves the Apple ecosystem and it’s easy to see why with iMessage. I am just confused to why Apple consumers buy iPhones so frequently. The iPhone 6S is just as good as any other newer iPhone.  You get the same great iOS12 experience. 

 

But I might have the answer: phone carriers love to bundle phones with data plan offers. People just get new phones every 2 years.

IMHO, it’s a better deal than the Google Pixel 3 which costs $800, $50 more than the iPhone XR. 

 

Now, I don’t want to buy the XR for $750. But in 2 years when it’s about half the price used or with a phone contract I’ll snatch one up. 

EXACTLY, there’s more to a phone than the screen and you’re basically getting an iPhone xs minus the oled screen and telephoto lens for a fraction of the cost. People buying the xr don’t care about screen resolution because they’re coming from iPhone 7’s and 8’s maybe even older where the pixel density was the exact same. In my opinion the xr is a significantly better value than the pixel because of apples customer service and long term support

i know the title says "Do Not Buy the iPhone XR" but with all these comments about the low res screen combined with the big battery capacity, it makes me wonder if the phone will actually last longer than 5 hours in real life. it probably will, but my point was to not buy the phone if you are coming from a previous phone that has a higher display resolution... because you will most likely notice a difference. I should have said that from the start, but i messed up..

I think, Battery Life will potentially be better than iPhone Xs(Max), because the SoC has to Render a lower resolution.

Unless the Xs uses a Dark Mode, to save screen consumption.

Dark mode would be really nice on the iPhone if they don't make it an exclusive feature

This is obviously a software bug, I’ve used lower resolution iPhones with 1080p YouTube before.

 

I like how people can pick one very specific specification and use that as a way to justify the device as being bad.

Hmm that might’ve changed since I had my iPhone 6 actually. After some research it looks like Google specifies the Max resolution available on YouTube.

Can confirm on my 1080p iPhone 6 plus that the max it can go to is 1080p on YouTube while my computer at 720p resolution can go to 4K  2160p on YouTube.

Yea 6s is great.  I bought an iPhone se 64 gb for 140 dollars last month.
