Go to solution Solved by palespartan,

I figured I would take advantage of the fact this post hasn't been locked yet to spread the word about this years folding month.

Folding month 2019!!

See the thread for detail and don't forget to spread the word!!!

@leadeater you can now lock this one.

Nice!

My 2070 is yielding 1.3MPPD so the 2080 should be capable of at least 1.6MPPD and likely more

Did you have to do any advanced/expert settings on it?

Better question is there some place I should be looking for advanced settings for titan/tesla v100?

I still wasn't generating any points or completing WU's according to EOC, but my computer was still hammering away at something... found out for some reason my credentials were cleared out, so I was folding as an anonymous user

But its okay. It just means I'm going to pass you sooner than expected :D , but I dont think you're in danger of falling out of the top 15 yet. You got a 2.1M PPD buffer between you and the next guy

My 2080's been doing 1.7M for the last few workloads. Just moved up the temp/power limit sliders.

I do wonder if one of the peeps who signed up and haven't actually contributed anywhere near the minimum requirements yet would swap with me?

OK - Let's just call it ONE POINT FIVE BILLION POINTS in the last seven days!OnePointFiveBillion.jpg.bfa8397dbf41e53a09aec10c142de510.jpg

Great job everyone

Remember when @Ben Quigley had a goal of 1 billion points for the whole month? This is insane.

did you get a passkey from Stanford? if you did the only thing I can think is either your driver crashed or folding is stuck in low or medium or something.

I'm going to ramp up folding for the month anyway, see how many places I can climb!

glad to have you folding anyways. And you still qualify for the LMG GPU giveaway anyways.

I just pulled my GTX 1060 out of my Linux “Dev” rig and installed it in its PCIe2 x16 Slot (equivalent to a PCIe3 x8), updated the drivers to the most recent 400-series and slid the power target all the way up, the fans up to 70% and added +75MHz GPU and +800 memory overclocks.

Aside from having to use the command line in Linux it should be the same process in Windows.

How are the temperatures on your 2080?  I’ve been really impressed with the 2070.  It’s been running at an average temperature of 60C at 196W power for the last 7 days.

Ray Tracing features aside these cards seem to be beasts at the Single Precision that Folding needs and the new process technology is delivering on higher efficiency.

i haven’t had a chance to profile the card yet at different power targets but I’m starting to think that the decrease in efficiency as the power target is increased will be much lower compared to Pascal.

Meh, this is annoying..

For some reason my FAHClient refuses to download the AMD core21 file.

18:29:58:WU01:FS01:Downloading core from http://cores.foldingathome.org/Win32/AMD64/ATI/R600/Core_21.fah
18:29:58:WU01:FS01:Connecting to cores.foldingathome.org:80
18:30:19:ERROR:WU01:FS01:Exception: Failed to connect to cores.foldingathome.org:80: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

I dont know whats wrong with it, its folding with the nvidia core21 without any issues,

I wonder.. Can anybody using the AMD core21 just zip the C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\FAHClient\cores directory and post it? Might work just to copy it over to my machine..

EDIT:

And, ofcourse, now that I post here, it finally downloaded the file...

The Asus card runs @ 68C and the EVGA @ 69C. Both in relatively small cases w/ air cooled OC'd CPUs.

I was hoping to break into the top 100 today, was 121 yesterday and got everything I can going on it but only made it to 106. Hopefully full power for a few more days will see me do it. Think I need to find more GPU's only got a 1070 and an old 750ti going for it at the moment (have got 2 x i7's, 1 x i5, 1 x i3 and a few old dual cores), problem with 'acquiring' a few work PC's is that they only got intergrated graphics.

Big thanks to all the users participating in the Folding Months and those that are just participating having missed the sign up cut-off date.

And a big thanks to LTT especially @James and @jakkuh_t for participating in the competition and the LTT staff for giving the Folding Months shout-outs on the WAN Show. The effect of the shout-outs can be seen on both the Points per day and Active user series.

If we keep these levels of production up we are poised to move the LTT Folding team 2 teams up overall from 14th to 12th place.

Team_Stats_20181116.jpg.2b2e2280fa8755d4683c48418a8b409f.jpg

And lastly, but not least, a big thanks to Jason at Extreme Overclocking who provides the nerd eye-candy we've been watching over the month and who, on short notice, provided us with a customized team query that we can use to track our progress.

The team overtake makes me wonder what position LTT could get if Linus and the guys just threw all of their high end cards into a few boxes and let them fold for a month. Surely it would be a massive amount of points.

I run the IT systems, it's not that naughty haha. I've had a look at those that have left their PC's on over the weekend and have managed to add the following;
Core2Duo E7500

i5 4590

i3 2120

Core2Quad Q9650

Celeron G550

i3 7100

i3 2120

Not sure how much it'll add but somethings better than nothing :)

I tried to install it on a couple more but was getting an error come up on the installer stating;

"failed to install files. most likely some software, possibly folding@home is currently using one or more files that the installer is trying to upgrade..."
From what I can tell the PC's aren't running anything else so can anyone shed any light on the error?

I'll see what other machines I can install it on when people are back to work on Monday, some leave them on during the week and turn them off at the weekend. I've also got our Sage server with a Zeon E5-2609 but that's managed by another company so I should probably get permission before using that one - that could be the one that would get me in trouble ?
