1tb crucial mx 500

Galion

Today a bunch of 1tb crucial mx 500 ssd came in to our neighbourhood pc shop there's about 35 of them, the shop owner said the guy who brought them in because he quit mining.

He's selling them at $120.00 each should I pick at least one up?

PS: I've never had a 1tb ssd. Feels excited.

I mean, the worst that could happen is you get an SSD with slow read/writes, but still faster (in theory) than an HDD. Just dont put anything critical on it until you're sure it's stable.

Live fast die young I say! $120 for 1TB is great

120$ for 1 1TB SSD? Go for it! (But do some research about the reviews of the SSD before you buy)

Well, DUH!

SATA vs NVME

New 500GB MX500 goes for around 80$, 1TB around $180.

$60 discount for used one is not bad, not sure what kind of mining used SSD though.

Great price. Great SSD.
I'd go for it!

If possible check the runtime of those SSDs.

Nether do I but 1tb *drools* I've never held a 1tb ssd before, he's giving all purchase 1 month warranty so I was thinking of picking one up + it's smaller and weighs less then the hard drive. And no moving parts.

Tech deals host compared the MX500 to the 860 evo and said both performance are the same

I wouldn't say the same but the mx500 is very close to the 860 Evo. I'd say it's only a little bit behind and is usually cheaper.

Just verify it is an mx500 and that it is fully functional and I see no reason not to get it.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Hello Galion,

Get it, check the reads and writes and do a comparison with the advertised specs, that will give you an idea as to what you could expect from the unit. In the other hand you may want to check the warranty, the drive could still have the 5-year warranty: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/CT1000MX500SSD1.
