Amazon Website Can't Handle Prime Day

Shreyas1
Quote

It’s not just you. Amazon Prime Day started 15 minutes ago, and so far, it’s not going well for Amazon. The landing page for Prime Day does not work. When most links are clicked, readers are sent to an error page or to a landing page that sends readers back to the main landing page.

Ouch. I wonder if they'll extend prime day or something. This is pretty bad for a company as big as Amazon IMO. It seems that a lot of people are also not going to buy things as the site is so bad.

It seems people are using this workaround:

Here’s how to get around Amazon’s error. Use smile.amazon.com. TechCrunch confirmed this workaround works.

Amazon can't handle this many customers? Welp.

They cut everyting close to the margin to make Jerf richer. His slaves... i mean employees fall asleep standing up and have to piss in bottles while sending "help" notes in packages. You expect his infrastructure to be capable? Everything about the guy is phony.

Kinda weird that a company with the 3rd largest cloud presence on the net would have issues like this.  Wouldn't surprise me if it turned out to be something really stupid and annoying and third party.

EDIT: I take that back, it appears they are the largest by a long margin.

i can testify to the falling asleep stadning up i used to work for amazon it was hell mid day till midnight shifts with only an hour of break combined that was all sheduled in the first 4 hours of the shift. My family all hated the idea of me quiting my job untill they realised what the work conditions where actually like from a BBC documentury a few years back and then they where glad i did

I lurk a lot

I dont care how much money you throw at something, I dont think people understand whats going on under the hood especially with searches alone. More hardware at this size doesnt mean shit.

I think Primeday is overhyped. I never purchased anything on these days but I don´t have prime. I only buy if I need something.

A few years ago, I bought my XFX R9 390 from Amazon around Thanksgiving.  I was considering waiting for Black Friday (or Cyber Monday), but found a really good deal on Thanksgiving day itself.  I didn't see that low of a price again for nearly a year afterwards.  It went up considerably the following day and stayed there for a long time.  Sales days used to mean something, now they're just a joke.

Treat their workers like garbage, hold entire states hostage from making slight tax reforms and they still can't afford a decent server? F*ck Bezos.

I wanted a 160 dollar 144hz 1ms 27 inch monitor, but the site crashed. Probably for the best, I almost don't want to shop Amazon out of principle.

(on a side note, the ASRock X399m motherboard has been bleeding price for quite a while untill it went from 376.82 back up to its original price of 392.46 ,_,)

(side note vol 2 would be i'm kinda glad the stuff I'm committed to only releases next year .-.)

I think so yeah. Haven't seen it since before it crashed for me yesterday afternoon.

Prime isn’t for everybody, especially if they don’t need the 90%-crap streaming content; almost EVERYTHING on sale during this event can be had for the same price, sometimes less - and to ALL users - at various times throughout the year, especially at Black Friday.

Prime is kinda for suckers. But there’s certainly enough of them out there.

Id rather pay $300 not to buy from Amazon.

Maybe their site is down because all their servers are busy working on the 1984 style police state.

I think they had free video games on twitch or something if you're prime, though they probably are all relatively unknown games

imagine a counterculture piece where they list an item that sells nothing, costs zero with "shipping", and has the description "save 100% when you order"

They have this, which costs 7 dollars

Eh, I've never been much for the Prime Day sales. I do love using Amazon for Christmas shopping though, as well as things that are simply harder to find in Canada and there are tons of them on the US Amazon site. One has to wonder though, is it horrible structure, or is high volume causing issues. If it's high volume, I'd say mission accomplished.

One day I'll dabble in selling items on Amazon.

The first part of the video was legit, and his stealing of Musk's speech was rather hilarious.

However the second part was dribble. I can just as easily find Musk answering more light hearted interview questions.

Amazon has to run a tight ship because on a majority of items it really doesn't make much money, especially once you factor in return rates.

If anything, Amazon is an excellent model for how a companies customer service department should be structured.

That alone gets them my business.

Eh, Prime has a ton of uses. Much faster shipping, access to their TV shows, etc.
Might not be for you, but it doesn't mean it's for suckers.
