I'm sharing folders from a VM on the network with just the permissions of everyone has access to do anything.

With the file shared, I can manually go to it by typing in \\computername\ but it is not showing up in the network discovery list.

This issue wouldn't be a problem but certain programs are unable to save or read from the shared folders even if I have manually types the location of the file/folder.

I have checked all the services related to file sharing I could find off Google, I have unshared and reshared, restarted the machine, disabled firewall and added rules to let it through anyways, double triple checked that file sharing was on for all network types, and verified I'm on the correct network with the correct settings. Other VMs can share folders but half of the others can't even with the same network settings.

I'm just at a loss on what to even try next, any help would be greatly appreciated!
