K i a r a

Hey.

So, I have $15.00 Cad. Left in my Steam wallet, And was wondering any suggestion on games?

- Meant for my Laptop for school, No AAA titles, The laptop can run most games on low, But I was looking for simple easy games [That I can play in class, that isnt gonna make the fans go OPOP - Dont have the Laptop yet, still being shipped]

Things like this...

  • Rocket League [Is this game even fun anymore?]
  • Don't Starve

Not sure what to buy..

Looking for suggestions :)

How low are we talking?  Rocket league isn't exactly hard to run by any stretch, but it's well out of range of many lower spec systems that will still handle Don't Starve fine.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

oh alright :D  That should honestly handle most things fine.  Only inefficient indie games and newer AAAs will be out of reach, and even then, probably only at higher settings.

That laptop GPU is actually quite nice...

Games like Skyrim should be no problem, as well as many indie titles. I presume you wabt to be able to play on the go and maintain some semblance of battery life + not demanding inordinate amounts of attention.

Minecraft, either Java, or Win 10 (more efficient on resources) would probably be a good choice.

Also forgot Minecraft isn't on Steam FML.

I like gaming on my Atom tablet/laptop hybrid thing because it is passive and battery life while gaming is still quite good, though gaming options are a bit limited.

Sonic Generations is only a few dollars at the moment, and looks to be a blast without needing to invest a lot of attention. Might be demanding enough to have the fans ramp up though, and you would probably need to carry around a controller of some kind.

I'm having trouble coming up with a lot of pc games that you neeedn't invest a lot of time, and arenlight and portable enough to be easy to go back into and put away. Maybe the Torchlight series, though tbh, what you describe seems the ideal use case for mobile games, or even a 3DS.

Stardew Valley would be another idea too.

Edit: how about Slime Rancher? A little demanding at higher settings, though it is very easy to jump in and out of and plays well on keyboard and mousepad.

I would be a lot more concerned if the cpu/gpu were running at very high temperatures without the fans ramping up. Macbooks serve as a good case-in-point. Those things run very hot for the sake of fan noise. My old HP laptop (2010) I used to use for some very long (multiple days) render and encode sessions. The thing was annoyingly loud and high pitch, but it is still in service with my sister today.

In a classroom though, unless you have Blender or some other creation program running, I would understand not wanting to draw attention.

So long as the cooling does it's job properly and promptly, there is little risk of damaging a laptop from using it for heavy tasks.
