A smart battery charger and a few rechargable AA, AAA and 9V batteries.

With smart i mean one that stops charging when the battery is full. Most chargers are stupid and push a low current (which causes batteries to take a long time to charge) and not stopping when they are fully charged causing all the energy to be turned into heat and killing the battery very quickly.

 

edit: if you travel often and like to tweak stuff, make a piratebox.

It's basically a raspberry pi with software that allows you to create your own WLAN network with storage.

Handy if you want to connect phones for a local LAN party (i used it to play bombsquad with friends) and you can put files on it so people can stream video's from it. It's just nice to have a sort of tiny portable network with you, especially on vacation.

A solid beer mug. A stone one with a metal lid that hinges, or a glass one with a thick base. You have a letterman but I like basic Swiss Army knives. A bottle opener and half decent blade go a long way.

 

Other than medicine or napkins/tissues, I can’t top the knife in my mind. 

I like at least 1-2 boxes of tissues & some day/night quill if I go anywhere. Being sick somewhere isn’t helpful for being out. Also OD medicine & epi pens can save a life thought I don’t have those/need them. I should get some for others just in case.
