Can't believe this game is 18 years old. The lighting effects and reflections are incredible for '04.

Interestingly it runs better on my GT 210 than my GeForce 6800...

Also I've figured out turning the lights off = great pictures of CRTs.

Ahhh Need for Speed Underground 2... that was my jam back when it came out. I still have my discs somewhere and have the disc images saved on my server. I had set it up on my Thinkpad T43p, still go back and play it once in a while. What a fantastic game that was!

For me it's OneMustFall 2097

https://archive.org/details/msdos_One_Must_Fall_2097_1994

Which you can now play in browser. The title sequence and main menu music always takes me back.

OK now that I bought it I can post about it. Found a quite rare Windows CE 2.0 Casio Cassiopeia machine in a super cheap lot of old electronics. The thing at the bottom right by "sold" with the LCD is it. Incredibly excited, since these go for many hundreds of dollars in good condition and I just got one (and some extra stuff) for just over $30. It's an A21s.

I have basically no idea what to do with this but I'll probably clean it up and resell it, just didn't want it ending up getting scrapped for gold or something.

For the longest time, I wanted a PA-2400U

https://www.engadget.com/products/casio/cassiopeia/pa-2400u/

But never did, and when PDAs quickly fell out of fashion, I forgot about them. I saw one recently on eBay Germany and wow the pricetag...

I have a HP iPaq h4100, needs a new batt but works well. Came with a sealed copy of Outlook 2004 for all that's worth...

Oh I recall those, PDAs, now with a colour screen!

Quite swanky back then. And Outlook integration, well that was jus frosting on the cake..

I wonder if that Outlook integration still works

It does but the companion PC sync software (required to set it up) doesn't run on newer than Vista, it syncs with old Outlook though.

I had an OCZ SSD but... we know what happens to those...

I think the first SSD I had was Sandforce but I can't remember what it was. 120GB, black and blue motif, meh performance but better than 2 WD Black 640GB HDD in RAID 0. Then I got a 128GB Samsung 830 that I still have and use like a decade later.

To be fair I bought this one used and it had someone else's Win10 install on it (PSA wipe your drives) so it had been in use. 97% health. Then one day I got home and my computer wouldn't POST. Drive had just... died while off.

Rampage II Extreme LGA 1366 + i7 980X - Mixed memory Viper Xtreme 2000mhz + 1 Dominator 2000mhz = 1150mhz CL10 1.7v. EVGA GTX 260 - Antec CP series 850w.

Yes that is a Wraith Prism retro-fit. Handles about 1.45v all core full load. Nets about 4.8-4.9ghz depending on the benchmark run.

Warp9-systems bench-off setup. Priming for LN2 runs. This weekend, hope to seal up the board.

I love it, especially the fans and Wraith Prism retrofit! Though, I wouldn't really consider this retro, and the completed build might be better suited for the Battle Stations Thread.

Why would first Gen EYE SEVEN not be retro? It's pretty old gear.... 08'... 6 years it'll be 20 years old mate.

@Bitter I put your image in a spoiler, but it's relevant to this:

Those prices remind me of just how cheap solid state storage has gotten. You can get a faster 1TB SATA SSD today for the same price that you paid for a 128GB SSD in 2012. I know, I know, it's how things work, but I still get a kick out of it when I think about it.

Phobos: AMD Ryzen 7 2700, 16GB 3000MHz DDR4, ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 8GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070, 2GB Nvidia GeForce GT 1030, 1TB Samsung SSD 980, 450W Corsair CXM, Corsair Carbide 175R, Windows 10 Pro

Polaris: Intel Xeon E5-2697 v2, 32GB 1600MHz DDR3, ASRock X79 Extreme6, 12GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, 6GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, 1TB Crucial MX500, 750W Corsair RM750, Antec SX635, Windows 10 Pro

Pluto: Intel Core i7-2600, 32GB 1600MHz DDR3, ASUS P8Z68-V, 4GB XFX AMD Radeon RX 570, 8GB ASUS AMD Radeon RX 570, 1TB Samsung 860 EVO, 3TB Seagate BarraCuda, 750W EVGA BQ, Fractal Design Focus G, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

York (NAS): Intel Core i5-2400, 16GB 1600MHz DDR3, HP Compaq OEM, 240GB Kingston V300 (boot), 3x2TB Seagate BarraCuda, 320W HP PSU, HP Compaq 6200 Pro, TrueNAS CORE (12.0)

Yeah, I was amazed by how cheap my 1tb Hynix S31 Gold was. It was $92, but like $60 on sale.

Side note, I've written over 7tb and it's still at 100% life...
