and the right charger was at the bottom of the last box i checked. Turns out 12v 3a of that hole size isn’t common.

It has an Intel Atom, 1gb ram and 32gb ssd. Perhaps Ubuntu 16.04 32 bit or an earlier Debian. It’s about as powerful as my Android tablet but cooler.

OK final update on the netbook.

It works about as well as an underpowered 15 year old PC full of bloatware could be expected to, but like 5/6 of the keyboard is dead, only the middle few keys work at all and the rest won't. Works fine with an external board or touch typing with the little stylus. I assume this could just be an unseated keyboard connector and/or dust in that region so I'll open it up to check. I'll also try upgrading the ram to 2 gb as it looks like just a regular old DDR2 module and I've got too many of those around. Speakers are surprisingly good and it's fanless and very quiet. It's got a 'tablet mode' where it works without mouse and keyboard and the screen can be folded to be a super thick tablet. If it doesn't handle Ubuntu well driver wise I'll reset the Windows 7 install.

Funny you should post a netbook @Mel0nMan I took a few snaps of this while at my mother's the other day..

It was once my Stepfather's pride and joy..

I'm sure once he's over the nostalgia of it (He only dug it out of storage recently)  He'll let me crack her open to reveal the juicy contents...and no, it's not a netbook.  It was a full blown laptop only very small.  It came with Linux originally when he bought it new in singapore.  but installed XP for more functionality

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

I've got a couple Atom netbooks and a couple Atom desktops. At the time the performance wasn't terrible but they have aged horribly.

Just got these 2 guys, another powerbook 150 that's not for me but will hopefully become a gift for someone if I can restore it nicely, and a Compaq armada 1750 P2 366

Both HDDs are dead, the powerbook needs some repairs on the right screen hinge, and it seems the CD drive on the armada is faulty too... hopefully it's not proprietary and I can replace that as the goal was kinda to have another ready to go machine with all drives and ports usually needed...

Ahh, we're posting netbooks now?  What terrible little computers those were.  Might as well show off mine.  I have this HP Mini sitting around.  Upgraded to 2Gb RAM and a 128Gb SSD I had lying around.  With Bhodi Linux it actually runs pretty good.  The keyboard and touchpad are still almost unusable though.  The batteries even still hold a charge.

This was my biggest problem with mine, I intended it to be a light travel laptop for things that were difficult to do on my phone. Nah, that keyboard and track pad are utterly useless.

That's a very old and slow CPU, not to mention the fact that it's only got a single core. The TDP is literally only 2 watts, so that can tell you a lot about the performance. Unless you have an absolute junker of a tablet I can almost guarantee you this netbook isn't more powerful. Still a neat find though, mainly for the display.

Phobos: AMD Ryzen 7 2700, 16GB 3000MHz DDR4, ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 8GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070, 2GB Nvidia GeForce GT 1030, 1TB Samsung SSD 980, 450W Corsair CXM, Corsair Carbide 175R, Windows 10 Pro

Polaris: Intel Xeon E5-2697 v2, 32GB 1600MHz DDR3, ASRock X79 Extreme6, 12GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, 6GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, 1TB Crucial MX500, 750W Corsair RM750, Antec SX635, Windows 10 Pro

Pluto: Intel Core i7-2600, 32GB 1600MHz DDR3, ASUS P8Z68-V, 4GB XFX AMD Radeon RX 570, 8GB ASUS AMD Radeon RX 570, 1TB Samsung 860 EVO, 3TB Seagate BarraCuda, 750W EVGA BQ, Fractal Design Focus G, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

York (NAS): Intel Core i5-2400, 16GB 1600MHz DDR3, HP Compaq OEM, 240GB Kingston V300 (boot), 3x2TB Seagate BarraCuda, 320W HP PSU, HP Compaq 6200 Pro, TrueNAS CORE (12.0)

Yeah, it's pretty terrible. It takes 7 seconds to open File Explorer.

Sadly a few areas of the touch do not work due to the humid area it was left in, there's moisture under the screen that seems to be interfering with the (resistive) touch. It works a bit better without the stylus.

Currently said T43p isn’t screwed together so getting to my windows xp key under the laptop was a test of my one handed skill to hold both a laptop loosely held together by hopes and dreams, and taking photos mostly in the blind

but it is now past the “enter a key” stage and onto spending half an hour installing basic drivers

Hmm maybe I'll have to post up my T43p as well... I don't have an ssd in mine though. I'd have to double check but I think I've got a 120 or 160gb HDD in it, also running windows xp pro. 2gb of ram too...

Yours looks like it's in fantastic shape! What are you planning to run on it?

20211101_234211.thumb.jpg.5044eb1af3bfe96cb55780644f7049bd.jpg

Just a few Thinkpads. Left to right, 380D, 560X, iSeries Type 1161, T22, T40, T42p and T43p. I also have two T500s and a 600X that are not pictured. The 600x is going to be traded to Disappearing Inc among other things and I'll be receiving a T22 parts laptop and I believe an X21.

The 380D was a literal shed rescue. I got two of them in the lot and both worked fine. I gave the other one to Anthony back when we did the Tech Hoarders video.

The 560X is the one that LMG used in their Thinkpad Anniversary Edition video a few years back. I'm in the process of finding a power supple for the external disc drive that I picked up for it (A 20x Panasonic that is similar if not the same that these shipped with). I also have an IBM external floppy drive for it and will likely be converting it to a 8Gb CF card for the hard disk.

The rest were all electronics recycler rescues. The T22 is a project, The T40 I'm running Windows ME partly just because but it also has 1Gb of ram so 98se may have issues without downgrading it. The T42p and T43p are both on XP pro. The T43 I upgraded to a 160Gb hard disk so lots of room for old games...

UT99, GTA Vice City, Oldschool RuneScape, the Sims 2, Halo CE, along with some cad and drawing programs, and with the sound card I got it can play 192khz 24 bit flacs, so music playback.

i actually had to activate this via the phone call method in 2021, you can still activate windows XP if you have your original key

i know there are ways to get around that but something was super fun about being on the phone with voice menus for 30 minutes typing in a 48 character code, and then writing down another 48 character code

gonna try and find old versions of new moon to get decent internet usage out of it, opera 36 works, barely

something like new moon runs a lot better but it’s super hard to find it these days

I did this to transfer my old windows 7 retail key to an all in one in 2019 i think 🤣

The phone call method is fine but when they say are you calling from a smartphone, would you like us to send a text instead say yes. It takes literally half as long because instead of having to hear the numbers you can just read them on your phone.

Yes, this is how I normally activate xp and windows 7 machines. Once it sends you the text, you can go back and use the link many times as well so you don't have to call in every time. It is definitely faster than the phone...

Another tidbit, windows 7 keys still work to activate windows 10
