Celeron Ds are Northwood (Pentium 4)-based chips with 128 KB of L2 cache. They are NOT dual-core (those only came with Sandy Bridge and later).

Dual core Celery's came quite a while before Sandy... E1200 graced us with its existence in Q1 of 2008...

I've got a number of 478 Celerons, they're essentially useless now. Gold scrap for the pins.

Oh ! lol ?

If I had 478 Celeron socket 478 processors I'd be cashing in on that gold scrap! I'd have 1 gram of gold per 20 CPU at ~$40 a gram would be about $950!

Found an old box in my closet. It's full of old software and here's some of them:

IMG-20190322-152850.jpg

I remember paying $200 for the retail version of Vista 32 Home. Couple of packages that never been opened, one that came with the CD drive and one unknown package but it has a certificate showing in the back. probably one of Windows Office software. Some old game collection CDs that probably won't run on my PC today. Still have that old Windows 95 disk LOL.

Believe it or not, I didn't have any problem with Vista. It ran good. IIRC, I installed it on the AM2-3800+ and the mobo only see 2 gigs memory. Later I built a Celeron G540 system that can see the 4 gigs memory I put in.

Again no problem. ⌨️

On another note, does anybody need any parts from an Optiplex GX110? I have everything but the CD drive and HDD ?

This is the celeron 1000 from Dell, it weighs like a ton and runs classic XP.

It has a hard drive of 30 GB with a connection of mini IDE/PATA.

Then a SODIMM of 512 MB of DDR.

And a Battery Pack that weighs half of the laptop. I remember I played Plants vs Zombies in that, and I waited on the loadings screen for 10 mins, became hot both charger and the laptop.

Gooood times. :D

That's a nice looking desktop console. ?

Turned out I have another box of old parts, old DVD drives, PSUs and hard drives but I found the CPUs.

Remember I mentioned the Athlon XP 1700 and the 1 Ghz Duron? There they are. I also have my old Intel CPUs, the i3-2105 (in the i5 box) and the Celeron G540.

Ok but like a 2nd gen i5 isn't even old man. I've got a 1st gen Core2Duo powered SFF Lenovo behind me that I'm cloning the HDD to a new SSD because it's just too slow to do anything with otherwise. It's for a friends father who's loosing his mind in his old age and just cannot make the jump to Windows 10, he HAS to have THIS exact computer working or else he gets really confused and agitated and it must be ME that fixes it, otherwise he gets agitated and confused. I used to date his daughter a long time ago and her and I have remained friends ever since. I don't charge except for when I need parts that cost me money and then it's only ever my cost on parts, no markups and no labor charges. I need to look up the max RAM, max CPU, and see if my HD7570 test bench video card will work in the system or not. Hopefully with the drive cloned to the SSD, more RAM that's all matched in speed, and a video card of any kind (chipset graphics, who remembers that?) it'll be able to function noticeably better. Sadly I can't do anything with the Windows 7 installation that's probably a decade old, if it's not exactly the same when he turns it on he gets really really upset and confused. I feel bad for her having to deal with both of her parents who are like this and her basically useless brother too. She's far too kind and they have no idea how lucky they are to have her.

The i5 is 3rd gen. I upgraded from the i3-2105 to i5-3570 (my second PC). I put the i3 in the i5 box with the heatsink. I guess I tossed the i3 box.
