Dirty old Koolance water block. A CPU-200G, gold plated big hunk of copper. I'm trying to clean the white gunk out of it, soaking it with vinegar which looks like it's slowly loosening it up. I'm going to blast some air through it at work, but I need some way to clean the radiator and pump too....

i have a pair of core 2 duos a E6400 and a E6550, a Core 2 extreme qx6700 which is currently in my main setup(a slightly souped up up Dell Precision 390 in case you where wondering), a couple versions of corsair XMS2 DDR2 ram(all 2GB Modules), 2 sticks of ddr1 ram, some ddr3 ram for laptops, a working Dell optiplex 755 mobo and a couple hard drives.

i'm just to lazy to take everything out and take pictures of them ?

Dunno if this counts, but I have like 15 PS/2 keyboards and mice lying around...They were for PCs with PS/2 ports AND 10 USB ports.

A friend of mine used to have like 20-30 working PS/2 keyboard including a terminal model of IBM Model M (DIN connector instead of PS/2) and a bunch of original Modem Ms.

Hey I got it cleaner, more vinegar soaking and compressed air.

IMG_20190318_140215.jpg

Working on the pump, vinegar seems to be the cure-all for this. The pumps are all plastic, stainless, and they're impeller style with no exposed parts that could rust or anything so I'm not too worried but I'm still limited the time the vinegar is in the pump/res assembly. So neat thing about this old Koolance is it uses dual pumps in push/pull for redundancy and because it allowed them to get good flow rates even with the pump at the very bottom of the case reaching over 2 feet up to the radiator at the top. Normally such a high head would see a hard drop off in flow, not the case here. I remember the system pretty much self bleeding without needing to tilt the case around at all. Just let it run for a bit and top off a couple times. I'm so excited, I need to work on how I'll be able to mount the water block to modern 115x sockets though, I have some ideas but may need to build a bracket. It's designed for Pentium 4 retention mechanisms so this will be a fun challenge...sure fun. I could just cheat and get a waterblock for 115x sockets but this gold plated monstrosity is part of the heart and soul that makes this Koolance system what it is. The radiator though, it may get replaced. It'll be hard to clean out and it's very thin so I have my doubts about the kind of heat it can shed without the fans running at jet engine speeds. Which brings me to another possible problem, the whole system runs the fan speeds based on the temp of the waterblock via a thermal probe attached to it. With modern CPU temp reporting and motherboard fan speed controls this could be an issue if core temps and water temps aren't closely aligned.

I'll be doing a build thread, I'm sure I'll re-hash that and ask for some help there. It may end up that the Koolance display, rad, and fans are retained but I add a second radiator with a CPU controlled fan at the back to shed extra heat, anyone make a dual 80mm radiator? lol.
