ICTable scam?

So, this may be in the wrong place, it may not be.

 

After I watched the 16K video, I fell in love with the desk, as a gamer/video editor/it director, etc. It hit all the right notes for me.

 

So I followed them for a few months, and during Black Friday / Cyber Monday they had a sale, (10% off + $100 off shipping). 

 

Since I have had the same junky desk for the last 10 years, I was very excited for the upgrade. The only problem was they listed a 3 month wait time on shipping.

 

I however was OK with that, because it gave me time to plan a new build with the desk to go into their "TKON" system.

 

As soon as I ordered, the order said it was completed, so I reached out to their phone number, left a message and got a call back, this was then corrected.

 

I continued to check on the item every few weeks, and login to their web page, looking for any more information. 

 

As we are just about on the 3 month Mark in a matter of days, and I had not heard anything, I began to get a bit more nervous. 

 

I went to login to their store front again, and while their web page is there, the storefront is not.

 

Next I looked up their number I had previously called, and confirmed it was the one listed on their store (using google cache) and called again.

Number no longer in service.

 

Next I went to the PayPal (Credit) transaction and saw a different number, again the number was not in service.

 

So, either they were a scam all along, they went out of business, without a word, or they are having some other issue.

 

Due to time limits I have filed a claim through PayPal to hopefully get some information, or use their buyer protection.

 

In any event, since I first learned of this company through LTT and the 16K gaming video, I wanted to post this here.

That is not good at all. The copyright on their page also says 2017 instead of 2018, and their twitter hasn't been active for a month.

Just keeping this here as a As mentioned previously, the website is being updated and the new version will have a 2018 copyright(as well it should). As for the Twitter questions, this should not come as the surprise: our Twitter (twitter.com/ictable) account is primarily used to share information and content originally posted on other platforms, such as Facebook. In addition, most of our clientele uses Facebook, not Twitter, and thus we prioritize Facebook over Twitter. Just as an update to this post -

 

I have not received any new information as of yet (outside of the reply here).

 

As asked, I emailed the company last week, and received a reply back to my questions stating that their website is being updated (and the website is now changed, noting the update).

 

Also told that by the next evening (Saturday) I would receive a response, that response did not come, so I waited through the first day of this week, and still no response.

 

My primary goal here is to get this awesome desk (ICTABLE Pro) and enjoy it. I don't begrudge anyone or company having to cope with their success and lots of orders, but it is important to communicate with us (me) as a customer.

 

In addition I see the countdown for the new store, and have been watching it since last week. The only issue with it, is that it keeps starting over.

 

If possible, I will update this with further information, hopefully positive information at that.

Another update -

 

I heard back from the owner of the company (I presume) earlier this past week.

 

He explained in detail why my product was delayed, and that there would be an additional delay of 4 months.

 

His explanation made sense, as for such an expensive product, I'd want it to be correct, and I assume I am not the only one.

 

As such he offered me a variety of things to make up for it, which I was very happy to be offered, but I left it at the question - 

if it is not going to make my wait any longer, I'd rather be refunded, and then make the purchase again, so I do not have to pay for the item while I do not have the item.

 

From his statement in the email, I am currently assuming this will be OK, though I have not heard back yet, the offer he made me was good even if I took a refund through PayPal and came back later to purchase. 

 

At the moment, there are a number of days that the company has to respond to PayPal before I assume I am automatically refunded. I am currently guessing that this is what is going to happen sometime towards the end of this week.

 

As nerve-racking as it is to spend that kind of money, and not have a product in hand, I want to remain hopeful that at least by this summer, I will be saying goodbye to this decrepit desk I am currently using, and beginning the harder than it looks process of assembling an ICTable Pro.

This would be my final update for the foreseeable future. Communication has been a little slow, they sent me what amounts to a guarantee to refund if my desk does not ship in a specific amount of time. 

 

As disappointed over the delay as I am, I will take to waiting it out for now. 

 

If everything works out with what I have been offered over the delay, and I get the desk, I will post my positives, pictures, and thanks.

 

If not, I will just summon a beast from the pit and fight on. In any event, Thanks to those who prompted action from ICTable thus far (jakkuh)

and here is hoping everything goes well.

Its good that Linus' video has that much weight to it, to swamp a company that makes desks.

I just wonder though, as I dont want to watch the video, was it just a company with a Linus paid advertising video doing desks/tables or was it a indigogogogogoindie or however its spelled, deal.

I hate to reply to this thread being so old - I will say the following, I have not yet received the item, and I intend to begin bringing it up in two weeks via a new thread and linking the old one. Specifically in late February of 2018 I was told they'd get parts in, in June, depending on Customs, and then within a few weeks they'd expect to ship. So I am now in 4 months since this occurred. I received a very good offer, discount and otherwise in order to wait longer, so that has somewhat salved my annoyance (well it did) and life being busy has kept me not thinking about it as well. However, early next month, I will reach out for a status (if I don't hear sooner) and I will 100% make a new thread and ping the Linus people who were so helpful the last time. If it all doesn't work out, I will be greatly disappointed, as it would be a seriously dashed dream regarding the desk, but life goes on and I can make due with something else. 

 

I highly recommend, if you ordered this desk and did not receive it or have not received it, to make some noise. I ordered this desk originally during Black Friday sale of 2017.

My friends have been telling me I was being scammed for months but I refused to lend that idea any merit because I  saw them on LTT and trust LTT as a source of good info.

 

So I also ordered this desk because of the linus video, and I also have not received the desk.   I also had to deal with the changing store and website addresses and phone number issues. I paid in payments and just finished the last payment in May 2018. I emailed them about making shipping date and this was the response.

We are currently sold out, thus we have been taking orders for the next batch, which should be around 2 months from now. 
 
After this email was sent with my last payment all communication went from a 24 hour turnover to 3-7 days and multiple emails from my end trying to get a hold of them.
this is after I went on rants about how great the company was with responding timely and being very willing to work with a customer. but alas since they were so willing to work with me I was willing to wait they also offered me a discount on other products as compensation but I did not want anything else just what I ordered. just now that they have all my money it seems like I am no longer important.
 
So I waited and once middle of july rolled around I sent them another email looking for an update on shipping. did not get a response for 2 days so i sent another email and did not get a response for 3 days so i sent 1 more and finally got a response that they changed their email and also the info below.
 
Your iCTABLE is very close to be shipped, but it has to be slightly delayed. The current political conflicts between the United States and China have resulted in a complex trade war. The manufacturers are trying to exploit the struggle by not fulfilling orders on time or use other underhand methods in an attempt to increase prices. The conflict in turn heavily impacts small business like ours. Currently, our President and CEO, Anatoliy, is in China trying to resolve the manufacturing delays as fast as possible. We are putting our full effort to resolve the issue as soon as possible and will contact you with the soonest approximation.

unfortunately it genuinely seems like I may have fell into a trap and a catch 22 as since I paid in payments and my last payment was almost 3 months ago I may be SOL on getting paypal to refund me if I do not in fact get the desk. this is very worrying and a HUGE disappointment. they claim a HUGE customer base but there is little evidence to support this.
 
Also is it just me or do they seem to rely heavily on LTT video that was done with them as their only source of validity of popularity?
and upon searching my ass off the only media on ictable is the LTT one and some that they made themselves. 
 
PLEASE let me be wrong because they guys are really friendly and have a amazing product with a lot of potential and if I am wrong they need to seriously rethink the business practices in some areas to avoid these types of concerns as many people arnt as understanding and willing to wait as we are and will make a much bigger issue out of it.

This got under my skin. People being out the product and the money is NOT accetpable and this is 100% a crime. I reached out to them from a more official identity and will see if they respond. I might ping the OP on the side for more information, but I plan to push this one. They need to be held accountable.

Yes, that's what my reply was about, we're in 2020 and they're still taking orders (check the site).

 

EDIT ; looks like they're on a yearly subscription with GoDaddy, it was renewed in June this year.
