Best use for a second desktop pc

What would be the best used for a second desktop pc,without a video card, other than selling/donating. I would like to know what I could do with one so would build it around what its for.

Could turn it into a media center/streaming content/nas beyond that nothing much.

Could also turn it into a security system as well.

You have your movies, tv shows, streaming providers, etc on the PC so you can watch them from other PC's over the local network.

Also, comment or mention the person you want a reply from. Like this @Egg-Roll.

iSpy for security (with cameras sold separately, however webcams work too) or alike software.

But how does one make a NAS?

I could shove a couple of high capacity drives in with my G4400 if I could figure out how. Maybe I need to ask in the storage section.

Linus is my fetish.

Unraid is a good OS to make a NAS.  You can also run docker and VMs along with it.

Yea I watched that video with Linus setting one up for iJustine and I'm interested in that, but I don't need to for now as my raid 1 6 Tbs are plenty.

Consider that those drives in your system produce heat putting them in a NAS lightens up your daily driver and allows other computers on the network to share resources on the NAS

You can do a pfSense router-firewall.

You can install other OSs and play around with them, learn about them, maybe find one you like (like a Linux distribution, Qube OS...)

If the hardware is old enough, you may install an older OS and play older games that don't work well with modern OS/drivers.

(I'm assuming it has at least an iGPU you can hook a monitor to?)

FreeNAS, there's good documentation on setting it up.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

Pyo.

You could just purely use it for editing and rendering, if your CPU in your main PC is not up to par, there's a lot of things that you could do.
