Ways to make money from home?

Okjoek

Just curious what methods anyone has ever tried and/or had luck with? I'm not very fond of driving and it's bad enough I have to commute to one job so maybe I could get some ideas here.

Get a job that allows you to work from home. Freelancing or contracting design services are the easiest ones for that. Some support roles will allow working from home as well.

Alternatively: move into a city, and take the bus/walk/cycle to work.

When I'm not at work but home I usually spend all my time working with document translations, but I have public faith for that, to consider working at home you need a skill that allows you to get an occupation, I wouldn't really care mining any thing in particularly, the wins there are mostly in market speculation, you can only actually get some stuff out of it mining if you have a very powerful rig orientated just for it.

Does it really have to end up there to have some creepy old person with blue balls watch OP to be naked? And I think in many countries they call that prostitution.

You can try teaching languages in verbalplanet.com if you’re bilingual or a polyglot or do freelance work in upwork.com.

Perfectly legal in just about any country where pornography is legal.

It's also easy.  No major skillsets required, just nakedness and a webcam.

I don’t think OP needs to go that far. There’s so many at-home jobs that require no nudity

Why would ANYONE get dressed in the morning if they worked form home ANYWAY? :o

So that's how far this thread got while I was at work :D

Not really sure what skills I have that anyone would find interesting or useful. I've got a high school diploma. I took 3 years on Spanish, but all I can really do is maybe say some words I know, but not really make great sentences from it. I'm not bad in a kitchen. I can make Pizza from scratch which was my selling point for getting my current job making Pizza at the local supermarket. I can assemble a computer, but my software skills are capped out at being able to install graphics drivers and a few days learning experience using the command terminal in Ubuntu.

I have a YT channel with my most popular video being:

(I made it using Windows Movie Maker)

Easy. Open your own business and locate it in your own house. E.g. you can convert your garage into a hair salon. (My high school friends actually done this)

boom, you are working in your own house. Isn’t that sweet? You are now also part of the informal economy so no need to pay any taxes as long as the government doesn’t find out.

Costs are involved with that wasab, city business license, tax registration, insurance, equipment. Nudity only requires a webcam and payment system

Well I can cut my own hair, but I only know one style and that's short using an electric razor. Cheaper than having others do it.

I moved to the city to get work, I don't have to drive anywhere and everything I could possibly need is within a 10 minute walk. If I wanted to go anywhere else then the metro station is a 2 minute walk away, bus station is a 5 minute walk away and the main train station is a 6 minute walk away. Sure, you have to put your neck out on the line to move and start a new life but once you've got that covered you're grand.

For me work is an hour walk. I wish I could just cut that by half or something.

To be fair, that's still cyclable if you didn't want to drive.

Find something that's popular in your area (snowboarding, for example), study it, and scour eBay for deals on related gear.

Then post the gear locally on classifieds sites.

It only really works if you're in a large city, but if you find something that works that also has large online forums then you can make decent money. Of course if you're going the online sales route you'd want to find a hobby that has easy to ship items. Snowboards, I imagine, would be cost prohibitive :P

If you're looking for something to occupy your time as well as making money, and have a bit of money to start up, take a look at pen making.

You can make a decent amount of money at it if you set up an Etsy account, and if you really get into it, selling them on Kickstarter can easily net you $10k+ a year.

I currently work from home.  I do roadside assistance... I dispatch tow trucks to people across Canada who are in need of a boost or a tow.

I got the job because my old call center job was dicking me around and they gave me an ultimatum and I called them on it and got incredibly lucky.  There was a posting on the job bank(canadian job search site) about a post working from home.  I sent in an application not really expecting anything and had a call back in less than 12 hours.

I applied and in two weeks later I began the job.  They sent me a PC, two monitors, USB headset, webcam, and a phone.  Day 1 was called 'tech day' and it was spent making sure everyone got their computers working... I was up and running within the first 5 minutes but the 40+ year old spinsters were really tech illiterate and it took them the whole 8 hours and a bit of the next day to get them all up and running.  I couldn't believe I was getting paid for it.

I still have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming when it comes to this job.  It came with a massive pay increase compared to my old job.  I was getting paid at Nova Scotia minimum wage before but now I get paid at Ontario minimum wage which is at 14$ an hour now... I no longer slave away at minimum wage(technically speaking I mean... I live in Nova Scotia but am getting paid Ontario rates)

One added benefit about this job is I know the locations and distances of so many random Canadian towns.  I was watching the Scrapyard Wars series by LTT and they kept rattling off locations in the Vancouver area... Burnaby, Richmond, Port Moody, etc etc and I knew the distances they were going to have to travel and everything... it tickled me.
