"You kids these days are spoiled! My first phone was a flip phone. It made calls and texts, but you had to put some actual work into texting because you didn't have a full keyboard! Now you kids just sitting back using voice commands to write out your shit! Darn lazy kids!"

"My first TV was a small CRT that sat on a TV Stand. Now here we are with these bloody affordable 150'' 12K TVs that seamlessly integrate into the wall! Wish I had that growing up. >_>"

"When I was growing up, you still actually had to do your chores! Now we got all these stupid robots at your beck and call, doing all the shit for you! This generation is lazy and spoiled! >_>"

"Enjoying your fast internet kids? When I grew up we had internet speeds rated in Mbps and thought it was great and now here we are with Tbps (Terabit) internet speeds! Crap loads faster than you can breath! Wish I had that growing up!"

"Did you know... when I grew up there were actually people behind the counters in all these restaurants and stores? You could have a nice short chat while the cashier rung you up before you were sent on your way. Now you just got these advanced self-checkout machines, you punch in your shit and it's all done seamlessly and digitally.  The only people left are the chefs in the restaurants but they're out of sight! There's too much digitizing going on! You don't even have keys anymore! You unlock your car, your door, and all your shit with a freaking smartphone app! Hackers ARE a thing. >_>"

"When I grew up, one of the things I dreamed of having was Virtual Reality. Especially after seeing it in this anime called 'Sword Art Online', ever heard of it? No? Figures. I always thought it wouldn't be a reality (hue) and now here we are years later just before you spoiled brats were born it was invented and we got full blown VR MMOs and even singleplayer titles! You lucky brats! I grew up with VIDEOgames instead of these VIRTUALgames >_>"

Back when I was a kid, we had to work to earn something called "money", which you exchanged for goods and services.

Though really I'll never have grandchildren. It might be my sisters grandchildren :P

I'll also pull the "I had to walk to school, 4km, up hill both ways. Which I can say. Because it's true.

I dont think the money-earning system is ever going to change and we'll always have to do some sort of work to earn money.

check out what Picard says life is like on Earth in Star Trek, if we don't nuke ourselves to the stoneage or push our planet into ecological collapse and end human life on Earth, basically as long as we continue to innovate and advance science there's not a lot we can do to avoid a future like that

Aye. Though, my IT friends always say "if software worked the way it was supposed to, there's really no need for my position at all" :P As soon as automated cars come into play, there will be huge job losses. well tell your IT friends that software works better than they do and more efficiently as well, at my best i can maybe do 350 computers a night, the software that replaced me can do 1000+ computers a night and computers have gotten so cheap, fixing them doesnt make sense

This post makes me feel old.....being that I did have to rent a vcr to watch movies.  I came up as the internet starting coming into homes.  My first mobile phone was a Motorola brick phone. And I had a 13 inch CRT tv with UHF and VHF. I didn't even get the internet in high school as we still had electric typewriters. My first videogame system was the Intellivision followed by the Atari 2600. First computer was and old IBM with a green crt built into it with the keyboard that snapped to the front so you could take it with you. Basically an early laptop.

I know we have internet access today that grossly outstrips what was once considered good speed to local disk, so if that continues to hold true, (which sadly isn't a given but one can hope), I too look forward to multi GB/s download speeds in a few decades :D

perhaps, in one way or another.  Wifi still disappoints me in a lot of ways but the new 60 GHz and other tech like it, while only useful within the room they're broadcast from, promise much higher speed and lower latency and that could be nice

actually linus on a wan show said that pr0n would be hidden under kids mattresses again because of how we had to hide pr0n on our phones and computers and how we will be the parents of the next generation we will try to look for pr0n on their computers and we won't bother checking under their mattresses, so if anything the kids might relate to us on that matter

I'll be telling them what I am now: "every generation thinks the world is getting worse,  that's why older people don't care, they have gotten to the stage where they have realised they aren't the first to think that and aren't going to be the last.   Just fix the issues you can and stop whining like there is something you can do about everything".

OH and:  "stop thinking that older people don't understand you or your tech, they do, you just don't have the capacity to consider things beyond your immediate needs".

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

My dad likes to bring this one up when the topic of technology progress over human generations comes up.

"Grandpa?  What's a 'gigabyte'?" (Or, megabyte, terabyte or petabyte, or -hertz.)

By the time my grandkids would be asking me that, I expect even level 1 CPU cache would be measured in zettabytes, and petahertz would be a common specification for CPUs, GPUs, RAM, etc. (Or giga/teracores for CPUs maybe.) :PxD

(I have no children & no gf yet, there's still time for that kind of progress.)
