GIGABYTE has announced a powerful all-new extreme gaming laptop in the AORUS X9. The X9 comes with a 7th generation Intel i7-7820HK overclockable processor, two GTX 1070s in SLI, four DDR4 slots supporting up to 64GB of DDR4-2400 memory, and an option of either a 17.3” 4K UHD IPS monitor or QHD (2560 x 1440) 120 Hz WVA panel. Additionally, the X9 offers an ESS Sabre HiFi audio DAC, ‘quad’ audio setup with two speakers and two woofers, a laptop mechanical keyboard, RGB lighting, and the Killer DoubleShot Pro functionality via Rivet Network's networking.

There will be two configurations available in the US by the end of October. The first SKU is the X9-KL4K4M which has the i7-7820HK CPU, 17.3” UHD IPS screen, GTX 1070 SLI, 2 x 16GB DDR4-2400, 1 x 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD and 1TB HDD with an MSRP of $3,649. The second SKU is a Newegg exclusive which adds another 512 GB PCIe NVMe drive for a total of 2 x 512GB and removes the 1TB HDD.

So yeah, I don't think anybody should buy products with Pascal GPUs at this point. Wait for Volta if you need to have a Nvidia GPU.

I think the idea of 2 1070s in sli for a laptop is a waste. Unless it keeps the laptop cool. Otherwise it'd just be better to have 1 1080 or 1080ti or even 2 1080s. They went for the cheapest pascal gpu which can do SLI...

I strangely like the looks of it, most gaming laptops don't look good for me

So it will start at $1749, but the two SKUs that are available will start at $3649?

Apparently so..

I really don't know what's going on with that.

one day I plan to replace my 8350 with a laptop, mostly for programming and maybe a few games yet I still don't understand these products fully. They are so powerful they basically need plugged in all the time which begs the question why not just buy a micro arc pc and a monitor to take with you?

that aside I do want a nice powerful laptop lol

Maybe they're showing the prices in dollars per GTX 1070?

I prefer programming on my Desktop. programming on my laptop is not ideal to say the least.

I thought it'd be alright but I always prefer to do programming on my desktop.

...So what exactly do you get for the $1749? The MSRP for the two available SKUs are more than double that.

I decided to go with a gaming laptop over desktop, not because I take it out of the house, but because then I can be around the fam more whenever I do gaming or photo/video editing. So that's why I chose high-end laptop over desktop.

That being said, an SLI laptop does seem overkill. You get the huge extra added weight/less mobility and at that point, in my opinion, why not just get a desktop? I got a ROG with a 6700 HQ, single GTX 1070 and Nvme storage and Elite Dangerous plays good on Ultra.

I float between a dual 1080p monitor desktop and a acer c720 chrome hook running Linux. My problem is lack of ram my main pc only has 8gb and if I. Using big lists I quickly run out of ram.

For laptops I'd say Summer for Volta, at the earliest.

8350 and my 7770 is showing it's age so it's probably just worth upgrading at this point.

I really like gigabyte's product. Not insanely overpriced like the asus ones.

But their logo.... too tacky for me... giant eagle head.. and with an orange color?

...

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.
