Maybe generic water blocks? Measure the mounting holes spacing and go from there.

Hey guys, 
I've got a weird problem with my GA-EX58-UD5 and my x5670: For some reason the highest multiplier I can set in BIOS is 22x.

Even if I turn on turbo boost the CPU won't go past the 22x multiplier? Anything I'm missng here? Hope you guys can help me out

Idk, 22 sounds about right. You know we have locked multipliers, right? My X5680 is only 25x iirc.

I'm using 24x multiplier on my X5670

it's just super wierd that enabling turbo boost doesn't have any effect on the system itself imo

I'm expecting a multiplier higher than 22?
Anyways my MB seems to have been drunk. After rebooting and suddenly crashing, turbo boost was active and now im getting the x24 and x25 multipliers. I changed absolutley nothing and just rebooted my pc and suddenly it's working

I was watching an auction on Ebay that started higher, hoping it would be relisted lower. Nope, relisted for a much higher buy it now.

Seller is smoking crack.....so no SR-2 project for now.

If you do end up finding a Sr-2 at an affordable price it may be hard to find a chipset water block. I got mine from a guy who custom made them with a cnc machine

The basement CNC guy? I saw a thread for that and was thinking of going that route. Does it work well?

Holy crap I want this... There's no way I can justify buying one of these, but it's CLEARLY made to be put on a X58-UD3R

No it is a guy I found on the EVGA forums. He got popular when the SR-2 was new because he had made a waterblock for his board. Other people liked it and so people started paying him to make them blocks as well

Well, I put more money into my x58 system, now I'll really need a CPU with a higher multi...

 

Won that beast for 38€ on ebay, 180x540x45mm radiator. Now I need fans and wait for my pumps to arrive...

 

Probably gonna spend the 50€ on an X5675 and hope it manages 4.6 with <1.45V...

Yea, totally doable. IIRC I did 4.7 at around 1.45. I have it written down in a spreadsheet but don't remember off hand. I think I do 4.5 at 1.38 or so.

So I found an ad on Kijiji in my area that has an i7-950, 8GB of DDR3 1600MHz, a 6870, and--the best part--a Rampage III Extreme. All of this for $300. I asked the guy if he would take $130 for just the motherboard since it's apparently better than my current Sabertooth X58 (could someone confirm?). If he says yes to $130, should I go for it? He says it comes with all the original accessories (everything comes with at least a box, judging from the picture). If he says no, what's the max I should pay for it?

For a board that old, I wouldn't pay more than $150 for it.

 

I'm pretty sure Rampage boards have always been on the higher end than Sabertooth.

^^^ I got my Rampage III Formula (the one below the rampage) for $120 with the CPU, so $150 for a better mono seems fair.

Rampage III Extreme for 130-150 seems fair, though I've seen better deals before. I for one really like my Rampage II, and I haven't heard anything bad about the III.

You'd get a bigger improvement from a Xeon with the Sabertooth than the i7-950 on the Rampage. You likely won't notice a difference in motherboard with the i7.

I'd do it, my ASUS Formula is amazing, and looks super nice as well.
