What graphics card can my 8 year old PC support without too much bottlenecking?

Zirk

Specs:

Core i7 960 (1st generation, Bloomfield, stock speed)

Gigabyte X58A-UD7 motherboard (PCIe 2.0 16x slot)

6 GB ram, triple channel

1080p 60 Hz monitor

I'm currently using a GTX 770 which could handle League of Legends no problem, but I'm starting to play PUBG and even at low settings it still struggles a bit, so I'd like to upgrade again. I would be interested in a GTX 1070 but with how much more powerful that is than the 770 I'm not sure how serious the bottlenecking may or may not be. Ideally I'd like to be able to upgrade the graphics card and hold out for at least a couple more years before getting a new PC.

Thanks for your comments/suggestions.

used 980ti

If you can find one
Otherwise a 1070 would be the very most Id put in there, probably stick with a 1060 to be safe

Over clock the crap out of that 960. They are still pretty good cpu once overclocked. You're fine with 1060-1070 range of cards

Fair enough, I see a Hybrid on there for $350 which is a good deal. Although an older hybrid card can run into problems with the pump

that thing is probably even necking hes 770gtx already

its only like 60% the speed of a 2600k

You underestimate how slow Piledriver was. A 960 is actually about 15-20% faster than it

You're still using synthetic benches. Which again, often do not reflect real life performance

the video is necking the card on the cpu on any particle area heavily and u can see that in the vid aswell, 20 to even 30 fps differences on crowded places due to a cpu bottleneck
